It's been a while since I posted a self portrait, so here I am in one of my favorite lounge shirts. I used to stray away from horizontal stripes because of the rumor that they are unflattering, but it turns out that I like them.

The marker is back!

James L. Pierpont (1822-1893), composer of "Jingle Bells", served as music director of this church in the 1850s when it was a Unitarian Church located on Oglethorpe Square. Son of the noted Boston reformer, Rev. John Pierpont, he was the brother of Rev. John Pierpont, Jr., minister of this church, and uncle of financier John Pierpont Morgan. He married Eliza Jane Purse, daughter of Savannah mayor Thomas Purse, and served with a Confederate cavalry regiment. He is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery. A prolific song-writer, his best known "Jingle Bells" is world famous.

Jessica & I went into Smyrna to enjoy one of the last Food Truck Tuesdays in 2012. Atlanta has an established food truck culture and there are a couple of locations these truck park at each week to enjoy.

Built in 1858 by Dr. James Hoggatt on land inherited from his father, Capt. John Hoggatt, a Revolutionary War soldier, this fine Italian villa style home is centered in an area of local historical significance. John Donelson settled early in this rich Stones River bottom area, followed by Andrew Jackson, who married his daughter, Rachel.
The nasty tummy bug has hit our home. Nothing like a kid vomiting in your bed to wake you up at 4am. She's slept on the sofa all day so I could be close. And have her away from carpet.
Not an actual monocle, but a magnifying glass.
