Governor Thomas William Hardwick, lawyer and statesman, spent most of his life in this city. Born in Thomasville, Dec. 9, 1872, he graduated from Mercer in 1892 and from Lumpkin Law School, U. of Ga., in ‘93, in which year he was admitted to the bar. He was Prosecuting Attorney for Washington County from 1895 to ‘97 and a Member of the Legislature from ‘98 to 1902. He served in Congress from 1903 to 1914 when he was elected to the Senate serving until 1919. He was Governor of Georgia from 1921 to ‘23 and appointed to the U.S. Senate Mrs. Rebecca Latimer Felton, the first woman Senator in U.S. history. He died Jan. 31, 1944.

Shot of Denver airport while riding in on the Boulder/Denver shuttle at 5am. Looked a bit like the old classic Logan's Run.

It's hot as hell and I was dripping sweat from a dog hike when I passes these women, but they were still nicely dressed and even rocking a hair bow. I might have felt sloppy if thy weren't smoking, instead I felt great about a 2-hour walk.
One of the perils of driving along countryside roads like this one is that, at any moment, a stray moose may leap out of the bushes and lay claim to the asphalt on which you are driving.
This happened in the early autumn of 2003, I remember as I had just got my first digital camera that summer (a Canon IXUS 400 if you're into random trivia), and on a late night right about here (see photo), as I was driving at around 80kmph, a moose (female by the look of the lack of horns) leapt out into the road in front of me. I quickly slowed down to avoid crashing, and ended up cruising at about 40kmph alongside the moose which was galloping to my left. About a hundred yards or so later the moose did a swift change of trajectory and disappeared into the woods to the left. It was all over in seconds, and I didn't have the slightest chance of getting a picture. The above photo was taken just under nine years later, at a slightly more illuminated time of day.
