Happy New Year! The male Tufted Duck is generally silent except during courtship when it makes a low whistle. I was lucky to hear this one during September on one of the shallow lakes at Slimbridge.

I went to Second Norway to rent a slip for our catamaran there! On my way back to the airport I got off the train at a wrong station and got completely lost! Thanks gosh there is virtual Uber!

On October 1st the Point reopened. The Point is a dune in Cape Henlopen State Park that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Delaware Bay. It is closed from March through September for nesting and migratory birds. It fully reopened to the public this past Thursday. During late fall and winter, one can walk the entire length of the Point which, to my understanding, is two miles in length. My sons and I just happened to be in the park on Thursday and walked the distance that day. I was standing on the tip of the Point, on a gorgeous afternoon, when I took this shot.
I believe this may be a young female calling out to parents who were also flying in the same area. She was not having success getting a vole and landed on this post calling out as if she was asking for a feeding or just frustration.
On the eve of the night of the rising of the full moon, at it's closest orbit to earth, the creatures of the day, rise up into the night in what only can be called "The Calling".........
