Feb. 27, 2013. Brighton, MA.
Boston-area residents affected by what they call predatory rent spikes and evictions will protest Brighton-based City Realty Group, LLC and its subsidiaries at 3:00pm Wednesday, staging an action outside the company’s headquarters at 370 Chestnut Hill Avenue. The action was organized by tenant rights groups City Life/Vida Urbana and Chelsea Collaborative.
Advocates argue that City Realty Group is using the foreclosure crisis to buy up homes at rock-bottom prices, then going back on its word to tenants and instituting predatory rent hikes that are well beyond original lease agreements. Despite its promises, the firm has refused to negotiate with tenants, opting instead to move forward with immediate eviction proceedings. In addition to an immediate eviction moratorium, groups like City Life and Chelsea Collaborative are calling for fair rent calculations based on both the owner’s mortgage/maintenance costs and overall affordability for existing tenants.

This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 27th May 2015 at 20:00. The weather was perfect for running and racing again and gave bright sunshine with some breeze. The weather conditions were favourable for runners this evening. As this was the final night of a very successful league there were many category prizes up for grabs with runners having to ensure they ran their races to gain the required finish times for the overall calculations. There was a great atmosphere at the finish as spectators cheered on the runners. This year's 5KM is ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. The final 1KM is within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification means that the race offers a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years. In the prize giving and awards in Belvedere House Cafe there were refreshments served for runners and this brought the curtain down on the Road League for 2015.
The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Runners can also choose to just run one race without being considered for the overall league placings. Over 330 people took part in tonight's event bring the total from the four nights to so far to well over 1,400 runners. As with all of the previous weeks the new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 is now over but has continued successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series. Despite the bright evenings the photographic conditions in Belevedere are difficult so this photograph is part of a smaller than usual photograph set as there were many blurred photographs this evening.
The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

Stereostatic model. Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family. Barcelona
... Gaudí spent ten years working on studies for the design, and developing a new method of structural calculation based on a stereostatic model built with cords and small sacks of pellets. The outline of the church was traced on a wooden board (1:10 scale), which was then placed on the ceiling of a small house next to the work site. Cords were hung from the points where columns were to be placed. Small sacks filled with pellets, weighing one ten-thousandth part of the weight the arches would have to support, were hung from each catenaric arch formed by the cords. Photographs were taken of the resulting model from various angles, and the exact shape of the church's structure was obtained by turning them upside-down obtaining therefore the form, absolutely precise and exact, of the structure of the building, without having to have conducted an operation of calculation and without possibility of error. The forms of cords corresponded to the lines of tension of the prim structure and when inverting the photo, the lines of pressure of the compressed structure were obtained. An absolutely exact and simple method, giving an example of the intuitive and elementary methods that Gaudí applied in its architecture and that allowed him to obtain balanced forms very similar to which nature offers. One can also find the same expressive power of Gaudí's monumental works in his oddly graceful chairs and tables. Upon entering Gaudí's architecture, one encounters the totality of his artistic contribution of integrating materials, processes and poetics. His approach to furniture design was a sinuous spatial continuum that exceeds structural expression and becomes one with the architectural idea.
Two members of the Sealab II team use slide rules as they make calculations. The person to the right may be project co-lead Walt Mazzone.
This photograph was likely taken by Jay D. Skidmore, a Navy photographer and aquanaut on Sealab II’s Team 1.
The Sealab II project demonstrated the possibilities of saturation diving, a new approach to undersea work that kept divers underwater for days or weeks at a time. Saturation divers enjoyed unprecedented lengths of work time in exchange for only one decompression period.
In July 1964, four aquanauts spent four days living underwater in the first Sealab experiment — the first real-life test of saturation diving. The following year, the Navy drastically expanded the scale of testing with Sealab II. Beginning August 28, 1965, three teams of ten divers spent 15 days each living and working 205 feet underwater off LaJolla, California. They tested underwater tools, raised a sunken fighter jet, conducted geological studies, set up a weather station, and worked with a dolphin named Tuffy trained to carry tools and messages between the habitat and the surface.
For their efforts, the Sealab II team was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation — the first time it was given to a mixed military and civilian scientific team.

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, as well as the second costliest Atlantic hurricane, only surpassed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The eighteenth named storm and tenth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Sandy devastated portions of the Caribbean, Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States in late October 2012. Sandy is estimated in early calculations to have caused damage of at least $20 billion (2012 USD). Preliminary estimates of losses that include business interruption surpass $50 billion (2012 USD), which, if confirmed, would make it the second-costliest Atlantic hurricane in history, behind only Hurricane Katrina.
Sandy developed from a tropical wave in the western Caribbean Sea on October 22, quickly strengthened and was upgraded to Tropical Storm Sandy six hours later. Sandy moved slowly northward toward the Greater Antilles and gradually intensified. On October 24, Sandy became a hurricane, made landfall near Kingston, Jamaica, a few hours later, re-emerged into the Caribbean Sea and strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane. On October 25, Sandy hit Cuba, then weakened to a to Category 1 hurricane. Early on October 26, Sandy moved through the Bahamas. On October 27, Sandy briefly weakened to a tropical storm and then restrengthened to a Category 1 hurricane. Early on October 29, Sandy curved north-northwest and then moved ashore near Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In the United States, Hurricane Sandy affected at least 24 states, from Florida to Maine and west to Michigan and Wisconsin, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Its storm surge hit New York City on October 29, flooding streets, tunnels and subway lines and cutting power in and around the city. It is having various political effects in the United States.
My favorite vegetable drink. Please have a look at the bottom of the package. "Vegetable 50% + Fruit 50% = 100%", which is written in Japanese. That's interesting, but wrong calculation...

The Device allows automatic calculations of the Concrete Maturity Index by tracking temperature changes in fresh concrete over time. The system leads to effective planning of construction operations, such as heating, moistening of pouring, removal of formwork, etc.
Without maturity monitoring, in-place concrete strength is estimated by performing compressive cylinder tests in a laboratory. Relying solely on lab tests requires several specimens and can waste valuable time if a project’s in-place concrete reaches sufficient strength before standard test intervals. In the construction business, time is money.
There is a lot of confusion about circles of confusion...predictable I suppose ! This table uses the equation from the focal encyclopedia. It shows, as a simple example, that the DOF of a 50mm lens on a 1/2 frame camera at f/1.4 is the same as that of a 100mm lens on a full frame camera at f/2.8, when both are focussed at a distance of 10metres, and for the same coc as a percentage of the frame - ie 0.2% or 1/500th. The table calculates the near and far distances around the focal distance where we reach this coc, the difference is the DOF. I use the % of the frame, since when we print our pictures out the same size, with in this example the same view, then it is that that matters, not the actual mm of the coc.
I didnt mention, but a 50mm lens on 1/2 frame gives the same field of view as 100mm on full frame.
Hopefully it will also be apparent from this that since the physical coc is larger on a larger format camera, then for the same resulting image sharpness the lens does not have to be so good - the molded plastic lens in the compact cameras are startlingly good when you consider the small sensor size, not to mention the zoom ratios achieved. CAD and CADCAM for you!
For the non-beleivers, have uploaded some test shots. Sorry for no exif on the 4/3rds shots, this is because I used a canon FD manual 50mm f/1.4 lens...bit out of my budget for a electronic one.
In the golden age before calculators mathematical calculations were undertaken by the use of an abacus.
This abacus can be found in Glenalvon Historic House.
Glenalvon is today one of the finest examples of a colonial Georgian townhouse in New South Wales.
The house was built in 1841 by Michael Byrne.
Located at 8 Lithgow Street, Campbelltown Glenalvon is owned by the Campbelltown City Council and is the home of the Campbelltown & Airds Historical Society.
The house is open for inspection:
1st Monday, 2nd & 4th Saturday.

By my calculations the firstborn robin baby should have flown the coop on May 2, 2011. All four babies are still in the nest, though you can't see them in the picture. I figure any time now... A few times, my heart has been up in my throat as they looked like they would fly or fall out. Do you see the twig that hangs about half way across the nest? It has been in just about every picture I've taken so far. Today, one of the babies reached out with his beak and was playing with and exploring it. That was a first for me to see.
EGFR stands for the estimated Glomerular filtration rate. This is the best overall index of kidney function. The normal GFR varies according to sex, body size, age, and declines as increasing age.
If you are asking what is Gene Simmons net worth there has not been many calculation but according to the recent publication, his net worth is more than $300 million.

I performed a few calculations based on our remaining cash and the distance we had to ride. With six weeks of cycling and camping to reach the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, we’d have more than three Euros a day to spend on food. Suddenly I felt rich! Imagine how much bread and cheese and pasta that would buy . . .
