Last night I came upon this cactus in bloom at my parents place. The large flower has many lines, textures, colors. I don't believe the flower stays in bloom for long. I found it very interesting too photograph.
While hiking with my children this spring in Snow Canyon we came across the most beautiful prickly pear cactus in bloom. The blossom was the most incredible shade of fushia. The flower set against the red sandstone was stunning.
The colors of this bracelet reminds me of that beautiful hike. I hope it reminds you of something beautiful in your life.

A Whipple's Fishhook (Sclerocactus whipplei) in bloom at the western edge of Colorado. Note the fish hook shape of some of the spines.
Photo was taken at the Desert Museum in Tucson AZ. The Cactus in bloom are stunning. I still have lots of AZ photos from April to process.
I can't find the label on this cactus so I can't tell you its name, I'm afraid. But it's beautiful in bloom - with palest lilac pink petals and delicate scent. Sadly the blooms only last 24 hours. Very strong tonal range in this image because of the sun on the bloom. ISO 160, exposure 1/280th second and f 8.
