Cable car 15 leaves the Barn for its inagural run. The original 15 was built in 1894 and retired a few years ago and would have been painted in the same color scheme used 1894-1902 by the original Market Street Railway Company.
The other big building left on site was this large dockside shed. There were several of these big pits where presumably the cables would have been wound up. If you followed the tunnels and channels in the floor you could still see where the cables would have run out over rollers onto waiting ships docked in the estuary..

A remarkable piece of engineering, the Langkawi Cable Car was awarded by The Malaysia Book of Records for ‘the Longest Free Span Single Rope Cable Car - total length of 919.5 meters’ and it is one of the steepest gradients in the world at 42 degrees.
Protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the majestic Mat Chinchang Mountain range has been earmarked as one of the sites within the Langkawi Geopark development and it is part of the Mat Chinchang Formation, the oldest rock formation in the country with an age of about 550 million years.
Constructed from an XLR plug and an iPod shuffle USB cable, this will
allow me to use nicer microphones for recording in the field with
Voice Memos or other apps.
Car 11 is the most recent refurbishment, reintroduced to service on 12th April 2018 in Market Street Railway red.

Cabled Toddler Socks. Pattern is free from quietish. I knit these in Bulky Valley Berkshire and size 8 needles to get a perfect fit for a 3 year old.
Note: this yarn pills madly!
Riding the Cable Car up to the Top Station, I took this shot of the station in the middle. It drizzled earlier and the weather was hot. A moment later, it began to drizzle again. As you ride the cable-car, you can view the virgin jungle below.
