This back-and-forth ferry is controlled by cables which pull and guide it from the two sides of the lake. This style of ferry is used to transport cars (and their passengers) between islands.
This photo is on the island of Adelsö which is an island in the middle of Lake Mälaren. I rode my bicycle from Södermalm to here -- took a very scenic loop around Adelsö. Ahhh, biking at it's best.

This is the free Cable Panel Vest pattern from the Lion Brand Yarn website made using Amazing Yarn in the Wildflower #203 colorway. I used 4 balls of yarn and size US7/4.5mm and US8/5mm needles. This vest was so fun to make and easy to pick up while on the train. The colors in the yarn are absolutely gorgeous. The price is nice too! The only change I made was to have the collar join in the center back rather than the shoulder side. I would definitely make this vest again.
One weeks in SF staying on a cable car street and was thoroughly done with their constant bell ringing.
