Propulsion for the cable cars
We are in a "Restricted area." I was trying to get a picture of this reel from the garage door, reaching and stretching to get the camera around a truck someone had parked in the way when one of the guys working there offered to take a photo of Judy and I standing in front of it. Nice guy!
Wednesday - A full day stomping around the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, via the famous cable car, which deposits you at the very top of the ridge. You are immediately overwhelmed with magnificent views, if you are lucky with the weather, as we were!
We wanted to do several of the sites on the Upper Rock, from St Michael's Caves to the south, and the Great Siege Tunnels to the north, both of which you need the more expensive Nature Reserve pass, rather than the cheaper Walkers pass.
As I was to learn later, these cars are literally towed by a long loop of cable that goes round and round under the streets.
This is the first time I've built up a bike with barcon shifters where the cables are wrapped entirely under the bar tape all the way up to the stem. I'm quite liking this set-up so far!
A funky lanyard strap that charges and syncs your iPhone/iPod, and increases their capacity by up to 32GB.
Most of the road signs in Romania are written in Romanian (surprise, surprise). However, in some areas where ethnic Hungarians are in the majority, the road signs are bilingual.
The cables on the left should be like the ones on the right - as they were until some bright spark tried to steal the copper earth connection. Now the whole lot need to be replaced.
Pattern: Caramel Cable Hat
This hat has been in the making for possibly 2+ years. I started way back when and finally finished it after tinking back to omit one repeat only to still end up a too long hat. Plus it's also extremely roomy. So hmmm.
Same yarn as the Zen hat. I think this hat took a whole ball or more. It's been too long to remember. Just glad it's no longer a UFO haunting me in the corner. :)
