Wonderful view from up here. I'm very grateful for not being stuck here in unfriendly weather like some did recently.

The Port Mann Bridge is a 10-lane cable-stayed, toll bridge that opened to traffic in 2012. It is currently the second longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and was the widest bridge in the world until the opening of the new Bay Bridge in California. This bridge replaced a steel arch bridge that previous spanned the Fraser River.
The Port Mann bridge spans the Mighty Fraser River, connecting Coquitlam and Surrey, BC Canada

I put this in the group, then took it out when I thought maybe only round baubles were the theme, then saw other non-round ornaments being accepted, so I've put it back in. Well, it is the purpose of cable cars to go back and forth, after all!
Looking close...on Friday: Christmas baubles. This souvenir of San Francisco is about 3 inches/7.5 cm across.
Happy holidays, Flickr friends!

Seeing the City of Madrid from High up, you can get a Cable car that takes you up and out over the city to the Caasa de Campo Park. The park covers hilltops to the West of the city centre and was originally a Royal hunting park.
An old marker sign on Adur River Bank. There's one on either side. I wonder if there is still any kind of cable passing beneath now
Tehachapi!
UP ET45AH 2627, ES44AC 7414, and ET45AH 2639 hold down swing helper duties on UP 2576 east seen at Cable. For this eastbound there is still roughly 5 miles before Tehachapi Summit has been reached.

Two of the four twisted pairs of wires at the stripped end of some network cable.
Somewhere between 3.5:1 and 4:1 reproduction ratio. The cable jacket is ~5mm top to bottom.

One radio triggered Canon 600 EX II RT camera right aimed at 45-degrees across the subject.
This was a difficult shot to get. It was mid-day and the sun was bright, and tons of tourists were going in and out of the mill. I waited quite a while until one lone little cloud moved across the sun and softened the light for a few seconds. My trusty assistant, Manuel, politely asked people to clear the bridge while I got the shot. Thanks, Manuel!
The Cable Mill was built in 1867 by John Cable. It processed logs, corn and wheat. It has been wonderfully preserved, and is one of the main attractions in Cades Cove.
