These monitor stands are totally custom. They're two 2-foot pieces of aspen stained with American Walnut and coated in oil-based polyurathane. They hold up really well and prevent all the scratches the desktop was getting from that huge CRT. They also help cover up cable clutter really nice. They're elevated about a centimeter from the desktop with metal dowels covered in rubber.

I have a bad case with not enough cable holes so I never bothered with cable management. However, imagination always works like a charm so I bought cable ties and started working on that mess.

The cable car turntable at Powell and Market Streets. An inbound car, like the one in the picture, rolls onto the turntable, which spins it around. Then it rolls onto the outbound tracks, ready to begin rumbling up Nob Hill.
I fitted the choke cable to the carbs on the Alfa today - something that was strangely missing when I got the car. Perhaps in its former life in the warmth of South Africa, it wasn't really necessary. A fiddly job, with some filing required to get the ferrule down to size. Just missing the bolt to clamp the cable outer in place on the first carb and also the clamp on the lever on the dash (see adjacent photo). Also missing is the "hand throttle" cable.

Took a while to realize the cable was still in there and to make the cable visible. I started looking at prices for a new one and started with renew vigor.
After some online guides to
repair were published, it seems like they changed the design to make
it harder to take apart.
