C&O 306979 was a CS-15 class coil car built at Raceland by the C&O in 1974. The C&O assembled these cars using Evans components. The railroad constructed several series of these cars during the 1970s and they were all virtually the same, and classed CS-15/CS-15A.
Note the two fiberglass covers in use on this car. It was photographed at Nashville TN on 3-16-1981. No photographer listed, JL Sessa collection.
