RS-97 crosses the bridge over Oatka Creek in Leroy, NY on July 20, 1985. C&O 4081 leads the train, and it did not seem like C&O painted units made it up the BR&P 4th Sub that often. In exactly 1 year, on July 20, 1986, the last RS-97 ran, with the Borg taking over the line the next day.

It looks like a C&NW yard job is pulling a grain train out of the elevator near Summit. I think the elevator was at one time served by the CGW so please correct me if I a wrong. One other possibility is this train may have been loaded at the Cargill elevator near NFM on the FEVR tracks in midtown.

C&O 604059 is a PS 2700 cuft covered hopper built in 1968 and given class HC-25. This car was in the first group of 200 cars built in 1968 with 100 cars each going to the C&O and B&O respectively. In 1971, another 200 cars were built to the same class resulting in 400 total HC-25s roaming around the Chessie System. This car was pictured in September 1981, with no location or photographer listed. This slide took a lot of work to make presentable; the original image was over exposed and the slide itself heavily scratched. JL Sessa collection.

So today we took the kids whale watching. More accurately whale spotting if you are really, really lucky and looking in the right direction at the right time.

I was hoping for whales frollicking under a rainbow but instead I got a heap of cool gull shots that I will post over the next couple of days. This series is all for you Ang, out of everyone I know I think you will appreciate them the most :-) K

As per usual, the rear shot is the money shot. I like big afts and cannot lie.
