Edith just loves Tori
I went to an early service of church this morning because Danny was working, and Tori and I had plans for the afternoon. So, after church I picked Tori up and we went to the fairgrounds to see a car show. The cars were nice, but we were hoping there'd be more because it was only 11, and we were hoping to be entertained until 1:00 when the Earthday Festival was scheduled to begin. Since the walk around the car show only took about ten minutes we decided to walk to Cypress Bend Park.
Neither one of us had really spent any time there, so we thought it might be fun. We did find out about a dog-owners club that meets there, so I'm going to look into that. Anyway, after a short walk we sat down at a pavillion to rest, and while we sat there we think we saw a drug deal go down. There's a whole bunch shady people that drive through that park!
We sat around for a while then walked back to the fairgrounds. In honor of the holiday, we each picked up a piece of trash as we passed the cemetery. The Earth Day Festival was somewhat of a disappointment as well. I only really enjoyed my talk with the solar panel guy.

I found that there was a collection of mixed burgunday buttons at the craft store. I thought this would nicely continue the dot theme. Here, I've started laying on buttons, finished red marbles above

So my shutter button broke on my beloved Sony. I thought about ordering the correct piece and repairing it, but it looked sooo complicated :) And sending it in is complicated and expensive! So, I hacked up a sewing kit from a hotel we stayed at. There was a perfect tiny metal rod holding the kit together. Trimmed it with metal cutters. Took a soldering iron to it.. and voila.. created a little fake button. Then soldered that to a cute little chain so I don't lose it... and I'm back in business! ;) I just don't jab the button down, I'm as gentle as always. I don't know what kind of damage the rod could cause if it's pushed too hard. Works perfectly. I imagine the chain could cause some noise during video, but I really don't use it for that anyway.
Button shells are found buried in the sand, only reaching out its eyes and tentacle to forrage for food. When disturbed, these small but mighty shells gives a spiralling leap and buries itself into the sand again. Empty shells are also popular hangout places of hermit crabs, providing them with a safe and secure home away from predators.

What button where? Something tells me this shouldn't be on the ground. Everytime I see one of these walk symbols, I'm reminded of Hanson.
My dad took this picture for me, before I had my own light box. The ceramic 'button bucket' was my grandma's as well as the vintage sewing stuff and goldtone thimble/scissor necklace. The buttons on the left are hand cast resin (by me) and the ones on the right are vintage.
While rummaging in my button stash looking for some hoops to make Dorset Buttons, I found this lovely box.
Olive and Me-Me showing off their Button Arcade dresses. I got lucky with the Space Invader one in the shop, and I had the other commissioned after I saw the Hobbit. Love them!
