This was shot on Saturdays South Yuba hike and photo shoot. The reed Button is laying on in completely surrounded by water near the shore between two flat boulders. As she jumped from one boulder to the reed she decided to stop and lay down on the reed before jumping to the next boulder. She lay there a good 30-45 seconds before lifting her head to look at me then got up and jumped to the next boulder so we could continue our journey. I have no idea what was running through her head a the time but I think dogs are just plain weird.

At the end of the photoshoot, Button Bear wanted to go back into his box and sleep.. but Sparkles cat had jumped in and fallen asleep!

Here is a 2 hole button I made using some double helix luna 2 glass as a base with some clear encasing and some sparkly dichroic glass to give the impression of scales (not easy to see in the pic unfortunately). I made some silver glass murrini for the eye and sculpted the whole lot into a fish. I am really happy with this one and have finally realised that being a bit slap dash with the fins works much better than my usual fiddly unwieldy attempts!
I found these button people at two separate estate sales. Was creating fashionable button-people a fad craft in the 60's? Nobody wanted them but me!
Bradbury Science Museum
The military uniforms displayed in this case date from late 1945. The Manhattan Project shoulder patch on the left shoulder of each indicates that the wearer had been assigned to the Manhattan Engineer District, the secret organization that produced the atomic bomb.
Both jackets on display are the Eisenhower or "Ike" jackets, This style was named for General Dwight Eisenhower, the supreme commander of the Allied forces in Europe during World War II. He had the design of the original World War II uniform modified to make it shorter, more comfortable, and more stylish. Ike jackets soon became standard issue for U.S. troops.
This taupe jacket and cap belonged to a member of the Women's Army Corps. The brass button on the cap is the insignia of the WACs- Pallas Athena, the Greek goddess of victory and wisdom, who stands for strength and intelligence in warfare.
The WAC jacket and cap have been loaded by Debbi Wersonick.
