Painted Button-quail Turnix varia 17 – 23 cm
Painted Button-quail move on the spot in a circle as they feed, digging up the leaf litter and sometimes dirt as they go. This circular movement results in 'platelets' which are saucer sized and shaped bare patches of ground. It is a good way to find where they have been foraging. We thought it better not to disturb them just to get images of the platelets.
Don't you just love Spring?

I've been making these for a few years & recently taught a class how to make them. I use vintage (or vintage looking) salt/pepper shakers or small vintage perfume bottles.
Only vintage buttons are used. Sweet!

Dr. Manhattan button/logo from the Watchmen. The second in the series I made and easy logo to make since Dr. Manhattan designed it himself in the story.
So after I put my sewing room back together after messing it up last week I finally put up a shelf for my button jars.
One of my neighbour's cats. She is the sweetest little thing but very very shy so I was stoked that she hung around yesterday long enough for me to snap this =)
Couldn't pass up this cute button!
For Miriam Ruth born 27 August. Only 6lb 7oz so at 3 month size she's got a bit of growing before she'll fit this!

Vintage bridle button that was found along others in an old dairy barn near Weatherford, OK. The front has a beautiful picture of the Mother Mary with a gold radiance. The back shows nice wear from its use and has a horizontal bar for attaching the button. The paint on the front is in remarkable condition. Button is approximately 1 ¾ inches.
