"Greenwich Village (/ˈɡrɛnɪtʃ/ GREN-itch, /ˈɡrɪn-/ GRIN-, /-ɪdʒ/ -ij) is a neighborhood on the west side of Lower Manhattan in New York City, bounded by 14th Street to the north, Broadway to the east, Houston Street to the south, and the Hudson River to the west. Greenwich Village also contains several subsections, including the West Village west of Seventh Avenue and the Meatpacking District in the northwest corner of Greenwich Village.
Its name comes from Groenwijck, Dutch for "Green District". In the 20th century, Greenwich Village was known as an artists' haven, the bohemian capital, the cradle of the modern LGBT movement, and the East Coast birthplace of both the Beat and '60s counterculture movements. Greenwich Village contains Washington Square Park, as well as two of New York City's private colleges, New York University (NYU) and The New School.
Greenwich Village is part of Manhattan Community District 2, and is patrolled by the 6th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Greenwich Village has undergone extensive gentrification and commercialization; the four ZIP Codes that constitute the Village – 10011, 10012, 10003, and 10014 – were all ranked among the ten most expensive in the United States by median housing price in 2014, according to Forbes, with residential property sale prices in the West Village neighborhood typically exceeding US$2,100/sq ft ($23,000/m2) in 2017.

New York City is a global cultural, financial, and media center with a significant influence on commerce, health care and life sciences, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, dining, art, fashion, and sports. New York is the most photographed city in the world. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy, an established safe haven for global investors, and is sometimes described as the capital of the world." - info from Wikipedia.
The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.
Now on Instagram.

felted hearts on buttons: thrifted cardigan and deconstructed felted cashmere sweater... into little skirt.
This Giant Puffball (Calvatia gigantea) even in its button stage was 4-inches high and 5.5-inches across. An older mushroom measuring 12-inches across was also present but had been partially eaten and thus not photographed.

This series is of some little shortbread buttons I made for my baby shower (in March 08 - I'm a bit behind in uploading ;-p). Topped with pink and blue tinted white chocolate (as we chose to keep the sex of our baby a surprise). We now have our darling little girl, Lucia, who whilst in-utero was named Button!
I got a bit out of control with the processing of these photos - I wanted to try every possible variation! I've narrowed it down to 2-3 variations of each to upload here. I think the simplest ones ended up looking the best.
this was an attempt to make a quilt like this one: flickr.com/photos/eggmoney/400373863/ , mine doesn't look like hers which really worried me at first, the buttons were an afterthought in place of quilting stitching and I love them (I also tacked all the corners), in the end I'm happy with it
I've seen this little guy and his mother and twin sister quite a few times this season. They are quite tolerant of photographers and other park visitors. He was feeding on the vegetation in a dried up pond - hopefully the storm forecast for tonight will help fill the ponds again.
As a small child, my Nan lived with us, she always kept the buttons from old cloths.
I played for hours with the buttons that she kept in an old biscuit tin. I had favourite's, it seems crazy that such a simple concept kept me entertained for hours, and it seems if you search on google, that lots of people felt the same way about their mothers/grandmothers button box or tin.
I don't have a button tin, (seem to have quite a few buttons though) but doing this pic today has made me wish that I did, brings back lots of happy memories :)

After trying to sew the button facing as shown in the Japanese dolly book I decide to sew it like I would to for my own shirt.
I do hope it will help and crafting as your own risk
I was delighted to find that there are now some Button Quail chicks in the Lamberton Conservatory.
They are tiny....about 3 days old I'm told. I also learned that the males sit on the nest and take care of the babies after they hatch. They scurry about with their sheltering wings spread out to harbor the little ones when they need comfort.

My new Singing Belle doll is now fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by a Kaiser doll stand. She is photographed from various angles, in diffuse natural light.
The 2013 Singing Belle doll is basically the 2013 Classic Belle doll, with a couple of major changes. One is that she is wearing a glittering pink dress with a full length red satin cape. She also comes with her blue dress (without the apron), and a Mrs. Potts figurine.
The second major change is that she now has a sound mechanism in her body. There is a small sound button in the back of her neck, the sound comes out of heart shaped opening in her upper back, and the batteries are in her lower back. There is also a on/off power switch on her left side. The song is shortened by one verse from the original singing Belle doll, and the sound quality is not as crisp and clear. But the entire song is sung in one clip, rather than multiple clips, which is a definite plus, and the button is very reliable.
