Lucky lottery winners can visit North Coyote Buttes, an amazing surreal place. Very limited numbers of visitors get to go in person. For more information, see

This BLM link.

To visit the Coyote Buttes South is to step into an otherworldly landscape of textures, shapes colours. A visual assault.

Only 20 people per day are issued permits for this location on the Paria Plateau in the Vemillion Cliffs National Monument.

We had some snow, some rain and a little bit of sun and blue sky. Sorry - not enough superalatives to describe what millions of geology have done.

We toured the area with our guide, Dallas, from Paria Outfitters - superb, attentive and seemed to be having as much fun as us!

At the Eastminster Kennel Club dog show. This observer didn't realize he was standing behind a category sign from the show.

As part of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument the Coyote Buttes South section is a wonderland of stone. We were lucky to obtain a permit and spent hours in the area. Around each corner new colors and shapes were waiting. It is amazing what wind and water create.

I like that photo in black and white as in this way the eye focuses more on the shapes.

Did you know that...

... the City of Jackson has not levied a city property tax since 1976.

... its population is actually dropping, whereas Georgia's keeps growing.

... Jackson is home to a maximum security prison that serves as Georgia's death row and execution facility.

...Jackson was named after Andrew Jackson who stopped here briefly on his way south to fight the Seminoles.

Every time I went to take a picture at the zoo, the animals would show me their butts. This was the only picture of the butts I took, but I saw so many more. This was at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
