Le buste de Gustave Eiffel par Antoine Bourdelle est un buste en bronze doré représentant Gustave Eiffel, réalisé par Antoine Bourdelle et installé en 1929 sous la Tour Eiffel, au pied du pilier nord.
Le buste mesure 123 cm de haut.
Il repose sur une stèle de pierre, œuvre d'Auguste Perret avec la collaboration d'André Granet.

Nieuw Amsterdam - Salvador Dali - sculpture en bronze peinte à l'huile et au métal ajouté - 1974
En 1974, Dalí choisit pour une autre œuvre le célèbre buste en bronze du White Eagle datant du XIXe siècle, réalisé en 1899 par le sculpteur américain Charles Schreyvolgel (1861-1912). White Eagle était le célèbre chef de la tribu Ponca des Indiens des Plaines. Il était connu pour son opposition virulente à la détention de son peuple dans les réserves et pour son rôle dans la décision ultérieure d'égaliser les Indiens dans les années 1870.
Dalí transforme le visage de bronze, en une scène imaginaire avec deux marchands néerlandais assis à une table, (rappelant le style du peintre néerlandais Jan Vermeer 1632-75). Sur le front de White Eagle se trouvent la carte murale identifiable et la draperie bleue indiquant les peintures de l’artiste néerlandais. Les deux marchands aux capes rouges sont aussi les joues du buste. Les yeux suggèrent leurs visages, tandis que leurs chapeaux à plumes forment les sourcils de la sculpture. Les marchands sont assis de chaque côté du nez de White Eagle sur une chaise en métal miniature divisée qui est attachée au buste et boivent une bouteille de Coca-Cola. Le menton du chef se transforme en plateau de table et les lèvres deviennent un panier de fruits. L’œuvre fait référence à la colonisation néerlandaise du XVIIe siècle, un rappel du fondement du capitalisme américain avec l’achat de New York (Nieuw Amsterdam) par les marchands néerlandais pour un collier de perles.

In 1974, Dalí chose for another work the famous bronze bust of White Eagle dating from the nineteenth century, made in 1899 by the American sculptor Charles Schreyvolgel (1861-1912). White Eagle was the famous chief of the Ponca tribe of the Plains Indians. He was known for his virulent opposition to the detention of his people on the reserves and for his role in the subsequent decision to equalize the Indians in the 1870s.
Dalí transforms the bronze face into an imaginary scene with two Dutch merchants sitting at a table (recalling the style of the Dutch painter Jan Vermeer 1632-75). On the front of White Eagle is the identifiable wall map and the blue drapery indicating the paintings of the Dutch artist. The two merchants with red capes are also the cheeks of the bust. The eyes suggest their faces, while their feather hats form the eyebrows of the sculpture. Merchants sit on either side of White Eagle's nose on a split miniature metal chair that is attached to the bust and drink a bottle of Coca-Cola. The chef's chin turns into a table top and the lips become a basket of fruit. The work refers to the Dutch colonization of the seventeenth century, a reminder of the foundation of American capitalism with the purchase of New York (Nieuw Amsterdam) by Dutch merchants for a pearl necklace.

So, I decided to skip the idea of a Santa maxifig. I created a Santa buste instead. The backside (inside the head) features a cozy little Christmas scene with a Light Brick. More pics soon!

Loki (Hannelore) Schmidt (1919-2010) was the wife of Helmut Schmidt (*1918), former German 'Bundeskanzler'.
Loki Schmidt was very favoured in Hamburg, some of her themes were the plants and the nature.
Der "Botanische Garten" near the station "Klein-Flottbek" was recently (22.10.12.) relabeled in "Loki-Schmidt-Garten".
