More mid afternoon snappery from the Coast of Dorset. Such a lovely day for a walk and play in the rockpools, who could resist.
I was delighted to finally find the Burton Ledge this time. It's always managed to elude me in the past, always the wrong tide or burried in shingle etc. Now I know where it is, I can hopefully return in optimum conditions.
Such a beautiful stretch of coast, in any weather. I might be bias tho ;)
My apologies for an inundation of West Burton shots but having arrived long before my scheduled meet up with a fellow tog I had plenty of time to explore what was there and shoot many different compositions. I have some more but for now this will be the last from this session.
visiting England again - Jon and I went to Burton Agnes Hall and it was snowing when we arrived. After looking around the rooms inside we went out and the light was superb for taking photos.

Burton Latimer Round House, Northamptonshire, 29 Sep 2011
The Duke of Wellington, a national hero after defeating Napoleon's army at the Battle of Waterloo, often visited the county and stayed with his friend General Arbuthnot at Woodford.
He is said to have commented that the countryside between Finedon and Woodford, looking towards Burton Latimer, reminded him of the battle area.
So, General Arbuthnot built the Round House to view the panorama which allows 40 churches to be seen from the top, including Naseby.
A large plaque bears the words Panorama, Waterloo Victory, June 18, AD 1815, and there is a chimney and balcony on the top.
The West Burton coal-fired power station on the River Trent near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. It was commissioned in 1968 and was capable of generating 2,000 MW. It was the first station of this capacity in Britain. Unless the situation changes the remaining units are due to close on 31st March 2023.

A huge gallery was present for this at Burton Salmon. Unfortunately news filtered through that the Tour would be late after 56078 would not 'multi' with 56115 so they had to be swapped around causing an hours delay which was just long enough for the sun to drop behind the trees. At the time it was not known whether we would see another 56 on the main line or not but the last 19 years has told us otherwise!!!

At West Burton there are two power stations on the River Trent near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. West Burtion A is a coal-fired power station, which was commissioned in 1966, and West Burton B is a combined cycle gas turbine power station, commissioned in 2013. Both stations are owned and operated by EDF Energy. The A station generates 2,000 MW and was the first station of this capacity in Britain. It is scheduled for closure in September 2022. The B station has 3 Combined Cycle Gas Turbines with a total output of 1,332 MW. EDF has signed a binding agreement for the sale of West Burton B to EIG.
EDF recently secured a Development Consent Order for a new gas-fired peaking plant power station of up to 299 MW at the existing West Burton Power Station site, known as West Burton C. This development consent will transfer to EIG under the terms of the sale of West Burton B.
