When the tulips are in the spring in bloom, they will provide a sea of ​​color in the Noordoostpolder.
The land in the Noordoostpolder is particularly suitable for tulips. Today, about 2000 hectares of tulips are planted every year. Together these yield nearly 1 billion sellable bulbs.
The Noordoostpolder is the third largest flower bulb growing area in the Netherlands in terms of area.
De grond in Noordoostpolder is hier bijzonder geschikt voor tulpen. Tegenwoordig worden er ieder jaar zo’n 2000 hectare tulpen aangeplant. Deze leveren samen bijna 1 miljard verkoopbare bollen op.

Brand new in may 1983 Took this to Holland on a bulbfields tour.just waited for the feeder shown behind to fetch some passengers from West Wales.
This will conclude the bulbfield photo's of this season, this one is taken at the Ouddijk in Westwoud, wich is in West_Friesland, what belongs to the provence of North_Holland, in the back is the curch tower of Oostblooker, it is the only town where the Beatles preformed live as a band in the Netherlands
in 1964, a cousin of my was there, and he talks still about like it just happened recently, but it was nearly 50 years ago
One cannot live in the Netherlands without going to see the famous bulb fields region (bollenstreek). Going for a bike ride between Hillegom and Lisse in mid-April is a wonderful experience, one is surrounded by flower fields as far as one can see.

A ship lift, is a modern way of drying ships and releasing them into the water . As such, a ship lift is an alternative to a dry dock , floating dock or ramp. A ship lift is used in a shipyard. Most ship lifts today are classified or certified by LRoS and are called "Mechanical Lift Dock". A smaller version is a trouser lift or screw dock , with which only a fore or aft ship is lifted out of the water.
The Port of Den Oever is an important fishery port which is located in the Dutch Wadden Sea area. It is the home base for a large and modern fishing fleet and fish auction. Besides to that, it is a highly valued recreational port with for e.g. regular visits of the brown fleet. Moreover, research institutes for ecologic and sustainable marine innovations are located in the Port of Den Oever. In this context,the port authority recognizes its responsibility as manager of the port area and has therefore developed an environmental policy that is appropriate to its port activities and competences.

The Netherlands has more than 1500 flower bulb growers who specialize in the cultivation of one or more crops. A large part of their production is sold to the plm. 100 trading companies, mainly based in the Netherlands, who take care of further processing and sales. A large part of that sales is abroad, but many flower bulbs are also used in the Netherlands every year, particularly in hatchery sales. This means that the bulbs serve as starting material for professional forcers who pull a flower from the bulb, which finds its way to the consumer through the retail trade in a forest. Hatchery sales are also very important in many foreign sales areas and for those countries you can say that the locally produced product originates in the Dutch bulb!
BEA 'silver wing' cigarette tins from the late 1950s and early 60s
a tin of 25 duty free cigarettes, cost 2/6d (half a crown aka two shillings & six pence or 12 & a half new pence) and was sold only on 'silver wing' flights, a BEA hand baggage tag & airsick bag, circa 1969
'silver wing' was the name of an all first class vickers viscount a/c service at midday local time between london airport central (lap(c)) and le bourget airport, paris, at exactly the same local time a 'silver wing' flight departed le bourget for london
two other routes with an all first class service at this time were london to glasgow and london to edinburgh, with 'the chieftain' and 'the clansman' twice a day
not until the mid 1960s with the introduction of the 3 engine DH121 were the near cities of western europe served by jet aircraft
the fleet of DH106 comet 4B jet aircraft, in service through the 1960s operated purely on BEA's longer routes,
specifically london to athens, beirut, istanbul, malta, milan, moscow, nicosia, rome and tel aviv
at the start of the 1970 summer holiday season this comet fleet became a separate charter airline, BEA airtours, based at london gatwick airport and in the same year court line (new name, old roots and new jet aircraft) was launched at london luton airport
a revolution in holiday destination travel had really begun ...

one such tour operator was popular young company sunair holidays, who at the launch of BEA airtours, chartered two of the comets for the entire season for a few years ...
court line of luton airport worked closely with clarksons, an established tour operator who had been specialising in very popular day trip charters from many british airports to among other places, the dutch bulbfields ...

People are flying thousands kilometers to view the famous Dutch flower fields and I'm just living around the corner...

Reason: For over 3 years, I have the idea to take my weekly selfie in the middle of a field of flowers. But it had not yet succeeded to do it effectively. Till this week. Bleu skies and a field of purple hyacinths.
Hyacinth: Hyacinthus is a small genus of bulbous flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae. Plants are commonly called hyacinths.

Bulbs have been cultivated since the sixteenth century. The first in Haarlem and surroundings, the Haarlem bulbs. Gradually, the cultivation expanded on the spiritual grounds . The present Bollenstreek arose between Haarlem and Leiden from the second half of the 19th century. Even today , most bulb fields are still found in the Bollenstreek and the north of the province of Noord-Holland , but also elsewhere in the country, including near Venlo , on Texel , in the northwest of the province of Friesland , in the Noordoostpolder and on the Zeeland and South Holland islands you can find bulb fields.
