Kraków's premier Jesuit Church was built in the early 1600s, and its crypt serves as the new national pantheon for Poles distinguished in the arts, science and culture (Sławomir Mrożek was the first interred here in September 2013).

The twelve disciples standing on the gates outside are the church's most striking feature, although the interior has been extensively renovated and the airy, austere grandeur of this late Renaissance building is now evident.

Barahat Msheireb: This piazza-style square is the largest open-air covered square in the Middle East featuring the biggest retractable roof in the region.

Barahat Msheireb takes its name from the word “Al Baraha”, which means "an open space for socialization and networking" in Arabic. It is developed to be the center point of the Msheireb district in Doha, Qatar.

The sky was lighting up as we had dinner in the backyard. I grabbed my gear and raced to a nearby pedestrian bridge in Cupertino, California. The red sky was almost gone by the time I arrived. It usually pays off to wait long into the blue hour, which is the result you see here.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a realistic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The Royal Ontario Museum's Michael Lee-Chin Crystal addition - an aluminum-and-glass-clad crystalline form growing out of the building's original 1914 structure, had very mixed reviews when it opened. Some loved it, with many praising the bold design, while others placed it on the list of the world's top 10 ugly buildings.

Cape Otway Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia and considered the most significant. This leading attraction on the Great Ocean Road is a must for all visitors.

Built in 1848, the lighthouse known as the ‘Beacon of Hope,’ sits 90 metres above the pristine ocean of Bass Strait.

Hundreds of lives were lost along this shipwreck coast – a sad but fascinating history which led to the building of the Lightstation on the cliffs edge.

For many thousands of 19th century migrants, who spent months travelling to Australia by ship, Cape Otway was their first sight of land after leaving Europe, Asia and North America. (Source)

The Castle of Xavier (Basque: Xabierko gaztelua; Spanish: Castillo de Javier) is located on a hill in the town of Javier (Navarre, Spain), 52 km east of Pamplona and 7 km east of Sangüesa. Built in the 10th century, this castle was the birthplace and childhood home of Saint Francis Xavier, son of the Lords of Xavier, hence his surname.

The castle consists of three buildings with different antiquity. The "Tower of the Kristo Santua" is the main fortified building and chapel, holding an interesting Late Gothic crucifix and a series of murals depicting the dance of the death, unique in Spain. the "Tower of Homage", call also the San Miguel Tower, is the oldest in the castle. It also harbours the museum dedicated to the life of the saint. In its foundations Muslim vestiges have been unveiled, possibly dating from the 10th century. In the 11th century, the first enclosure that sheltered the early surround rooms. In the 13th century, two polygonal bodies and two flanking towers were added in all four cardinal directions.

The Castle of Javier is the target of a massive pilgrimage in early March, in honor of the patron saint of Navarre.

Albert Hall is a twenty room, 3-storey mansion first occupied by William Kyffin Thomas, one of the first European colonists, and part owner of newspapers the Adelaide Observer and Register.

Thomas, who had retired to Glenelg due to ill health, died the

very same year Albert Hall was finished and it passed into the

hands of William Pile. Pile added a magnificent ballroom with

an alcove for musicians. At this time, the property included the

block of land bounded by Kent Street. It became the Oriental

Private Hotel in 1930 and in 1982, a backpackers’ lodge.

In the 1990s it was restored as a private residence and,

more recently, converted into three apartments.

Old Synagogue ('Stara Synagoga' in Polish) is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in the Kazimierz district of Kraków, Poland, in Yiddish it was referred to as the Alta Shul. It is the oldest synagogue building still standing in Poland, and one of the most precious landmarks of Jewish architecture in Europe.

Until the German invasion of Poland in 1939, it was one of the most important synagogues in the city as well as the main religious, social, and organizational centre of the Kraków Jewish community. In 1794 General Tadeusz Kościuszko spoke from the synagogue to gain the Jewish support in the struggle for Polish independence. A plaque in the entrance hall commemorates this event:

"The Jews proved to the world that whenever humanity can gain, they would not spare themselves." – General Tadeusz Kosciuszko

Tonight after dinner we noticed nice red clouds high up in the sky. I grabbed my gear and raced to a nearby bridge in Cupertino. The red sky was gone by the time arrived at the bridge. It's worthwhile sticking around. I love the one-point perspective you get with this bridge. Something for Stanley Kubrick, he was obsessed with the use of one-point perspective in his films.
