The Empire Builder continues its snowy journey east kicking up powder along the former Milwaukee Road in St. Paul's West 7th neighborhood with plenty of power for its nine car train.
A rather pleasant summer afternoon finds Amtrak's westbound Empire Builder racing toward the Twin Cities, as they depart the west end of Oconomowoc.

Many builders have made one of these, which is no surprise considering it's great realism. I originally wanted to make one of these in brown with SR lettering, like britishbricks did, but I ran out of brown brackets. However, I found I had enough pieces scattered around to do one in dark grey, so I did. Due to a shortage of parts I simplified the chassis design down, but the body is the same.
I also have always wanted to make a wagon with cable drums, and using the barrel technique from the Detective's office modular building water tower, I made a couple that fit just right, then secured them down with some of the handy rope pieces, which worked perfectly with the buffers.
Thanks Scot for sharing your awesome design with us!

Antman is the closest approximation I can get with my parts. I wanted to use Bionicle/HF in one of my builds.

There I was, wandering around the harbour, when this chap shouts out "Do you wanna take my picture?" ... so I did :)
No words can express my joy when few hours ago I’ve been named LEGO Builder of the Year 2019 by The Brothers Brick, the world’s no. 1 source for LEGO news, reviews, and fan creations.
It’s an incredible goal to me. Thanks a bunch to The Brothers Brick Team for this special award and thanks to Rod Gillies (Senior Contributor) for the wonderful article and for the description of my MOCs.

There was no better way to end the year.
Thank you all!

Small, fast and heavily armed - that's the Guka drone. And the best thing: Nobody will see it coming in high grass!

The first build of the year is here and it was a lot of fun! I never really did much with lime green before, but with this one it worked perfectly. I think this year I will build more than in 2018. Stay tuned!
I heard about this place so often! Now I'll finally take a look.

We've been hard at work and are delighted to announce that Iron Builder is making its comeback! This time anyone can challenge the thrones!

As per the Iron Builder competition rules. I (the looser) have built a trophy for Bruce (the winner).
I figure that anyone who beats me in a head to head (no pun intended) competition deserves to be able to mount my head on their wall. Thus I have created a Lowell sphere version of my head for Bruce to mount on his wall.
On the side of every locomotive's smoke box is plates with the information for when the locomotive was built. These are the ones on Black River & Western which started life out in Colorado on the Great Western Railway.
A collage of 'The Builder' Giraffe No.13 by Artist Paulina Porebska. November, 2014 Christchurch New Zealand. I was doing collages for blipfoto and didn't think to put them up on Flicker but well from now on as they take so long to do!
Giant fibreglass Giraffe sculptures, reaching 2.5 metres high, are now standing tall on the streets, parks and public spaces of Christchurch and surrounding areas until 24 January 2015. At the end of the public art exhibition, in February, the Giraffes will be auctioned so we can all be part of raising money for local charities and turn the city’s Summer of fun into a helping hand for those who are in need.

Westbound Amtrak #7, the "Empire Builder" slows to a stop at Red Wing, MN depot on June 15th, 2021 with 2 locomotives and about 12 cars. Train arrived at 10:20 pm, late this day (due at 8:52 pm) due to signal issues somewhere between Lake Cities and Red Wing.
I always loved O. Winston Links work on night railroad photography and have been taking more shots at night.
The Empire Builder kicking up new snow as it passes Northtown yard at 44th. Passengers are enjoying a late breakfast of French toast and bacon in a nice warm diner as I freeze in the wind wishing I were traveling on it. It's cold and gloomy out but it'll be a nice trip for them as they travel along the Mississippi and enjoy the extra 4 hours on the train for which they are being charged no additional fee.

The Builders Arms Hotel is a historic pub on Gertrude Street Fitzroy, and the public bar has been whetting the whistle of locals since 1853.
With the last car just clearing the Rum River, the eastbound Empire Builder passes the Northstar commuter rail station at Anoka enroute to St Paul Union Depot.
Last year, I photographed barn swallows (Hirundo rustica) both in Norway, Greece and Kenya.
This one collected nest materials in a pond on a dirt road in Greece in May.

“A job you have to do, or a job you want to do?” I asked as I approached. “Oh I love it.” Was the answer. This is one of the roughest paths on Cader Idris, mostly used as a descent route. Erosion from footfall and weather has taken its toll. The massive chunks of stone are dropped in by helicopter and then chaps like this slowly manhandle then into place. He’s been at this since September and has another year to go. Funding is an issue, having lost some in European money due to Brexit, so if you’re visiting, use the car park, pay the fee, it all helps these guys continue to improve and maintain the paths too many people take for granted.
The Empire Builder at one of my favorite places to shoot; Approaching Duke. Became a little more difficult to visit after 9/11 since the Prairie Island Nuclear plant is just to the right.

Titled after a song by Gong. "Master Builder", on their album "YOU" is a power-house piece of music like no other. Starting off with deep Tibetan style chanting and repeated mystic syllables, the song gradually and gradually builds up to a muscular, repeated figure leading to furious and dazzling displays of synth, guitar and saxophone.
"Master Builder" takes no prisoners. It makes no compromises and relays a spiritual power that is hair-raising and breathtaking. It's shocking, rocketing finish is like being propelled out of cannon into the vast, light filled sky of another universe. In this case, on the album, "Master Builder" leads to the complex wonder of "A Sprinkling of Clouds", one of the greatest pieces Gong ever created. The two songs are inextricably linked.
It is this moment, from the Zen-shock finish of "Master Builder" and the propulsion into "A Sprinkling of Clouds" that came to mind when this image was created.
"Master Builder
Tell me how you make a Temple.
Jewels and Moonstones
You don't really need them.
You know.
Master Builder,
Tell me what the Temple's
Made of.
Deep inside you,
You can make
An Invisible Temple
In your own Imagination
If you Will."
