Building a true front wheel to align my fork. Shamefully none of my front wheels are that true, at least not true enough to make a nice fork, so I'm building this wheel with a Claris front disc hub, 2mm plain gauge spokes, and a Ryde (Rigida) Sputnik rim.

Amtrak train No. 8, the Empire Builder, approaching Waterford Ave. on the south side of Milwaukee. 10/2/1999
A Builder's First Source truck with a 53' trailer and a forklift picking up damaged building supplies from the job site.
An unexpected delay in the Empire Builder's journey allowed time to get off the train to enjoy sunset at the edge of the Rocky Mountains. This stop is at Browning, about 15 miles east of Glacier National Park.
While normally I don't like delays to my train rides, I'll admit that this one was rather a welcome benefit, photographically.
Lots of room to roam out here!

Fernand Léger, French
b. 1881, Argentan, France; d. 1955, Gif-sur-Yvette, France
Featuring workers whose bodies appear to be assembled from standardized industrial parts, The Builders exemplifies the style Léger developed after the war. The builders here fuse seamlessly with the scaffolding and gears around them, as though part of one harmonious machine.

I departed Whitefish on the Empire Builder on October 13, 2008 on my return trip home from my Western vacation. An unusual snowfall a few days previously left a snow covered landscape all across eastern Montana and into North Dakota. A foretaste of winter to come soon enough.
I love the patterns in this scene.

This had a lovely smell of eggs and baked beans but unfortunately the flavour didn't live up to the smell. It's not bad, definitely miles better than the chocolate and chili, which was disgusting!

My sleeping car attendant and one of our more elderly passengers enjoy the Empire Builder's station stop at Shelby, Montana. This is one of the "smoke stops" where smokers can light up and other passengers can detrain to stretch their legs.
