What the heck is this weird dead bug I found on my stairs???
UPDATE: I've been informed via plurkville that this is a Jerusalem Cricket, or potato bug. It is not a true cricket, nor does it eat potatoes, but whatever. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_cricket

Wheel bug (Arilus cristatus) at Hahn Horticulture Garden. I'd never seen this guy before (and thanks to the entomology students who pointed him out to me). He's huge, with a body well over 1" long. The bite is supposed to be very painful. That's a spiked beak folded under the head!
Bug nymph though I am not sure of what. I presume it has recently emerged from the exoskeleton that can be seen on the grass next to the bug. There are more photos below in comment 1 !

Anyone kow what type of bug this is? Let me know if you know the Linnaean name of the species or the common name.
Minor bug
Another bug in flickr. Minor but annoying. Will not allow uploading via form so its back to using email. Difficult to add titles for multiple images uploaded (is it 'title1 title2' ?). The fact a syntax error has slipped through means the staging server used to pickup these sorts of things before cutting over to a live server was not checked carefully enough.
For that matter I wonder if they use some sort of testing framework, especially to pick up the minor syntax errors. You do use a staging server flickr?
But I can say the site is quite usable. The cornerstone of any online service is, '... will it work at low res, say 840x480? ...'. Flickr really do a good job. The screen is tight but I can still do task the app. Unlike my native ubuntu apps. Where things stuff up, and they will I can find multiple ways to do things. Upload form screws up I can use email.

Who's afraid of bugs? Certainly not Nerilka as she dons her goggles and fav boots in her turn as Bug Queen!
On friday, this bug looked like a white, fuzzy/pointy, caterpillar-ish thing when it was captured. It was definitely insect-like in its legs; but it had little branch-y things poking out all over it.
By friday evening (see earlier pictures) it had changed to a green flying insect.
By saturday evening, its wings had color and it was darker green and more evil looking. Sorry for the poor focus it is very very tiny.
