The eternal battle over what is public art. The street artist sprays over public and private property and then the public buffs over the work. Where does the line stand between someone's art and another's tag?

One of many moths found in my first try of my home made LED moth trap. Not sure of the ID, can anyone help?

Cradley, Malvern, Worcs.

If more reefers looked like this I'd be pretty happy.

I am curious to hear what you all have to say about this photo. I try and branch out from the ordinary "perfect" set-up shot and play with my camera settings to get something unique.

Here is my thought process behind the photo:

Around the lodge, the Buff-tailed Coronets (we have about 5) seem to prefer to come to the feeding area later in the evening, when the surrounding vegatation starts to turn a darker shade of green. After recognizing their preferred perch, I got an image in my head of an illuminated Coronet sort of blending into the background. And so, I played around with my settings and ended up with this image.

This has very minimal processing. I brought out the shadows on the bird slightly as well as upped the highlights on the bird so the iridescence really popped, but other than that, the image is entirely created on camera settings alone.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts, comments and critiques!

Another resident of the Adelaide Zoo.

Along with the VC-10's, Tristars and Globemasters temporarily based there, sharing RAF Fairford's ramps back in September 2005 were a handful of visiting US Air Force Bombers in the shape of a pair of B-1B Lancers and two B-52's plus their associated tankers.

Here, Boeing B-52H Stratofortress, 60-0048/LA sits on the ramp awaiting it's next sortie, maybe just the transit home to Louisiana or more likely a bombing exercise over one of the UK's bombing ranges.

Either way these ancient warriors still soldier on.

Just in case you were wondering what BUFF stands for .............."Big Ugly Fat F......"

Often quick to scurry away when encountered, the two I encountered today, in different locations, were content to potter around, in and out of view. This one was hanging out with a small group of Brown Quail.

It's the first time I've seen these very fluffy moths, this one was resting among the grass flowers

This is my Favorite Stool. It is only 2 1/2 inches tall. One day I want to make one like this people sized. My Toys have all the coolest stuff, I'm Jealous :P

Grób szer. Artura Hammonda z Dover, żołnierza 4 Batalionu Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), który poległ 18 listopada 1943 r. podczas bitwy o Leros.

A grave of Pvt Arthur Hammond from Dover, soldier of the 4th Battalion of Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), who died on 18th November 1943 during the Battle of Leros.

Leros War Cemetery is on the eastern side of the Island of Leros, on the shore of Agia Marina Bay. The total number of burials is 183. This is made up by 13 sailors, 162 soldiers and 4 airmen belonging to the forces of the United Kingdom; 2 airmen of the Royal Canadian Air Force; and 2 soldiers of the South African Forces.

When Germans attacked Leros in November 1943, the British forces on the island of Leros numbered ca. 3,000 men (supported by 8,000 Italians). Most of them belonged to the 2nd Battalion of The Royal Irish Fusiliers, the 4th Battalion of The Buffs (The Royal East Kent Regiment) and the 1st Battalion of The King's Own Royal Regiment.

The British lost 600 men killed in action during the battle which lasted 4 days, and ended with the capitulation of the Allied forces.

Altogether, 1,400 people lost their lives in a short but fierce fighting for the control of Leros, a small Aegan island of virtually no strategic importance at that time.

Petroicidae (Poecilodryas cerviniventris)

When I first saw this bird, I thought it was a Spotted Crake, but it's not...!

A bit of research suggests that this is a Buff-banded Rail, and Flickr Friend Matt Klassen has confirmed my research...! (Thanks Matt...!).

New Zealand Birds On Line - a New Zealand site written by world-leading Ornithologists - provides some interesting background reading on this bird: www.nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/banded-rail

I've never seen this bird before photographing it, so this is certainly a Lifer - a first - for me...!!!

Thanks so much for the very kind and encouraging comments beneath this photo...! Your support is always greatly appreciated...!
