Abs getting some practice time in with Dad's big camera. She held the camera surprisingly well considering all the weight. And was using the viewfinder. Proud Poppa here.
Not sure what type of tree this is but it was covered in these velvety buds. Taken on the Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island.

The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

Emmie won the Miss Creative award, which apparently happens all the time for her. She seems pleased.
Even when our garden is rain soaked there is always something nice to see - these little buds are just beginning to burst open although many of the others have been in full bloom much longer.
Elf Fantasy Fair Arcen 2012 saturday 15th of september 2012
Every year in April since 2001, the substantial number of 25,000 people from all over Europe come to the largest Fantasy event on the European continent: the Elf Fantasy Fair.
Two-third of the visitors have transformed into orcs, magicians, dragons, knights, vampires, elves, unicorns, gothic lolita, manga comic hero or a combination of these. Every year the costumes are getting more resourceful and more artistic. In the midst of the budding nature of the Castle park which belongs to the largest castle of the Netherlands – Kasteel de Haar fantasy lovers indulge themselves in all that is offered and coveted: medieval music, dancing, lectures, theatre plays, and parades.

It's an exciting time when I see our rhododendron budding. We know the blossoms will be coming soon.
This goes out to all my friends who really can sew: Emma, Christine, Hana, Piper, Bozena to name a few. And the daddy to whom I haven’t even had time to tell this story.
Madeline put on her ballet class pink tights and discovered there was a hole in the toes. A couple of holes, in fact. I offered that I could cut them to her ankle, and make those kind of tights, you know, the feetless kind. Don’t know what they are really called. “but then my feet will be cold,” she said, the practical-when-it-suits-her girl. “Well, I guess we could sew it.” I said. Not really knowing what I was getting myself into, and second guessing my ability when it was really 3 holes in the toe, in fact, there was not much toe left. And I’m not good at sewing. But once suggested to a 3 year old, any idea is hard to retract. We got out the pink thread and the needle and I started. “I want to sew,” Madeline then says.
I momentarily rethink my resolve that giving a 3 year old a needle was not a good idea. And then, I threw it out the window. My St Barth clarity gone with the vacation and return of major sleep deprivation. After all, I’ll help her. I thought.
So we, did the toe together. I held the tights tight and she pulled the needle threw in the spots where I pointed. Not badly either. (mended toe)
Then she says, “I want to do it by MYSELF.” The magic words. As we had discovered more holes higher up in the tights. What the hell, I thought. The worst that can happen was she’d prick her finger (I had already demonstrated how sharp the needle was) and her brother was asleep.
So she went at it. When she was finished, she showed it to me, and said, “There, see? Good as new.”
That’s my girl. Embroidery 101 coming up.

It's spring in Bangladesh now and everywhere the dry and dead "logs" are coming back to life.
Macro of a new bud on a plant in my backyard =D.

Spring arrives late, two years running... as much as I love winter when it's at its finest, I do hope the next one will be shorter.
