we love our koi and everyone has a name... we had 12 and a few weeks ago, we noticed that our beautiful Blondie, who we bought in 2017, was acting strange... she would eat and then spit the food out... thinking she swallowed a pebble from the bottom and had a blockage, we couldn't do anything about it... then there were days she acted fine... but last night we noticed her scales lifting... not good... and this morning I found she had died... very sad, she was so beautiful...

Before I left Texas, I thought it'd be pretty straight forward shooting these methane bubbles, boy was I wrong. I remember feeling pretty dejected reviewing my images the first night. Nothing was looking "right". After thinking about it, I think the problem was that I didn't have my camera low enough.
The problem was my trusty panoramic leveling base. There is a handle that protrudes down and it was preventing me from dropping the tripod all the way down. I can't remove it because I didn't have the other base plate with me. After thinking about it the whole night, I came up with a super simple solution. The next morning (when this picture was taken), I crushed a packet of instant-noodle that I bought on impulse (because I wanted hot soup) and used the bag as a make-shift sandbag. It made a huge difference! This shot was one of the many shots taken with my ramen tripod. Oh, and I ate that pack of ramen on my last night, it was awesome.

I was thrilled to meet my new bovine neighbours who have been moved into the field next to my garden. I took this shot yesterday morning, but hope to try it again with a shorter lens---I'd had my 300mm on to shoot Robrobs (see previous upload).
Settles the stomach after overindulgence...or so I'm told. It's an old pic, taken at an open air cafe whilst waiting for my GLW to deplete the bank account at Mango, Zara, Cortefiel, Corte Ingles...have I missed one out oh yeah Gomis. No wonder Spain's economy is on the rise again :D
i passed my test yesterday!!!
along with my personal relief and excitement, i am also excited because i can now come back to flickr and take time to look at all of your photos again :)
sorry for my MIA status lately, but im back!
Finishing out the month with more macro and the lightbox. I know this idea is cliché but I had to do it plus there was a sale on kiwi this week so this is photography on the cheap!
I haven't decided on what I'll work on next month, we will see what inspires me day by day.
