I'm forever blowing bubbles

Pretty bubbles in the air

They fly so high, nearly reach the sky

Then like my dreams they fade and die

This was a very challenging challenge! Frustrating. Exhausting. Addictive. I learned a lot and know what I'll do differently the next time I try this. My biggest problem was lighting and focus. The fact that I don't have a lot of photography equipment also hindered me. My kitchen table was a mess! I would have liked to have taken the project outside for better lighting, but we've had nothing but rain and wind. So the virus isn't the only thing keeping me inside!

Here in sussex we have a long tradition of mining like the welsh and cornish, although we generally prefer chalk and another little unbeknown commodity ...bubbles!

yes the very bubbles you'll have all enjoyed in you bubble baths, shower gels ,fizzy drinks and in your beer started here, deep underground at the matey bubble mine, heres a quick snap of a couple of the miners at the end of their shift after returning to the surface....its not dirty work but somebody has to do it.

Bubble Travel of Burnley SIL 5523

Bubble experimentation - no photo enhancement used.

The results are breathtaking

This shot was an accident. I hadn't meant to photograph a bubble popping. It was a very happy accident though. It showed me that it's possible to photograph a bubble bursting!

There's some editing here to bring out the popping effect on the bottom left. The editing is curves adjustment, a sharpen, some highlight, and saturation.

I didn't think the relatively slow shutter speed of 1/200 would capture the bubble popping, but it has. Take a CLOSE LOOK at that bottom left hand corner. It's weird alright! It looks like it's imploding. I'd suspect that the whole process of popping happens in 1/100th of a second - it's just too quick to see. So, to have it popping while still being able to see the reflection - it's a rare moment!

The strange thing about popping, I think, is that it's neither really an explosion or an implosion (I might be wrong on this though), because the air inside isn't a higher or lower pressure than outside. Does that make sense. Maybe it's ever so slightly higher, but surely it can't be much higher, as the soap/water film is just that, a very thin film. It's more a peeling or unzipping!

Another bubble shot...

This one was taken during the first kiss. They had all the guest blowing bubbles around the dance floor. I had a couple lights set up bouncing off the side walls. I moved one of the lights to shine more directional in front of the couple to light up the bubbles. It worked well but it left a sharp shadow on her face.

I hope this brings a smile from you for Hump Day. This little man was so delighted by the bubbles his father was blowing for him at a recent Car Club Event that it brought out the inner child in all of us!

Happy Hump Day - & don't forget to post in, and check out, the group!

Happy Hump day!

I love the way this turned out but I guess I'll be in trouble for the smeary patio doors!

gotta have a little humor in the group pool

Four shots taken at this mornings bubble run. It's been a rough week, the flue kicked my ass, twice. Just when I thought I was over it it boomeranged back. But great to get out this morning, and get some fresh air and bubbles!

I was walking along the Royal Mile and saw a flurry of bubbles flying. Sadly, I didn't have my usual Canon camera.

As the saying goes, the best camera you have is the one in your hand with you right now. I took out my mobile phone!

This is my first download from my new camera: Nikon D7000.

The D7000 just gives me an extra bit of everything, compared to my D90. Exciting to play with a new camera!

Hi ha estones que sembla que m'avorreixi molt...

Thank you all for watching, visiting my photostream, your faves and kind comments.

I spent hours blowing these bubbles ;¬). (This is my most viewed picture)

You can not go wrong if you buy some cheap bubble mix or make you one and share the results with kids. During this southern California sunset a man was dipping his net like wand into a bucket and releasing hundreds of bubbles to float over the pier to the joy and pleasure of young and old, boys and girls and photographers too.

When she handles fire she excites, but when she blows bubbles she enchants.

who doesn't love some bubble blowing? I sat in that grass for thirty minutes just watching the kids blow bubbles.

This morning was cold, sunny and windless; a good day to form frozen soap bubbles. My first try this winter. Most did not come out well but I liked the colors in this one in addition to the crystalline shapes and the effect provided by the small bubble attached to the larger one.
