7 Days of Shooting – Week #52 (w/b 2nd July) Water

Still water, running water, fountain, pool, lake, ocean...

and bubble water

Macro Mondays theme - Bubbles.

Managed to encase a rose and buds in a bubble.

Taken outside to make use of natural light, in between a rather windy and showery day.

From our childhoods most of us had a bottle of soapy water and a dipper for blowing bubbles, for this one my thought was I needed something a bit more robust. Having managed to pop into my local toy shop they had a product much the same as we remember but the bubbles were of a more robust mixture. Tried out a few scenarios which didn't work so wondering into the garden and having some newly planted roses came up with trying to encase the Rose in a bubble, having many failed attempts trying to put the rose into the bubble I then discovered that if you actually put a thin layer of bubble mixture onto the rose and buds the bubble would not pop, the challenge then was the wind moving the bubble side to side and the rain trying not to get soaked hence why the bubble may not look quite as sharp as it could be and only having 1 day to do this in. This was my best on the day with a little bit of sunlight.

Making use of plants and trees in the garden as background and a setting of F3.5 seemed to give me the required bokeh.

Early morning lighted bubbles on stream in Seattle Chinese Garden, Seattle, Washington. Small white shapes immediately made me think of small white dogs riding bubbles downstream.

I had to do something cool on the last day of spring break lol. Why not make giant bubbles!?

I'm going to shoot some more of these at a later date when I get a little better at it. lol

I did this with my tripod and timer..so just imagine me hitting the shutter with my nose and running to time these lol.

I hope you guys enjoy! If you don't like giant bubble pictures...then I can't please you. haha

This is the tail end of some bubbles a street performer was blowing.

The excitement of seeing bubbles is so basic. Disney spends such huge amounts of money on high-powered magic, and yet can bring thrills to kids with just bubbles!

According to this food superstition, if you have bubbles in your coffee, scoop them and eat them so money will come your way.

Leftovers from Macro Mondays-liquid. These are macro images of the soap film on a bubble’s surface.

I created these bubbles by shaking a jar of tart cherry juice, and photographed them by pointing the camera down inside. They're moving around due to their recent agitation. The juice is red, and the foam has a pinkish tint in ordinary light, but these were inside a dark brown bottle, which imparted this amber hue to them.
