Provocate da una brutale repressione brutale di studenti da parte della polizia fra marzo e giugno del 1988 che causò solo la morte di più di cento civili, proteste e dimostrazioni si estesero per tutto il paese dall'8 agosto. I militari risposero aprendo il fuoco sulla folla, alleandosi con i comunisti. Violenza e caos regnavano e l'amministrazione civile cessò di esistere, e nel settembre dell'anno era nel pieno della rivoluzione. Le forze armate sotto il comando del generale Saw Mang organizzò il 18 settembre un colpo di stato per ristabilire l'ordine. Durante la rivolta 8888, come dopo fu chiamata, migliaia di persone furono uccise. La costituzione del 1974 fu rimpiazzata in favore di una legge marziale sotto Concilio dello Stato per il ristabilimento dell'ordine e della legge (SLORC) con Saw Maung come presidente e primo ministro.

De Heer en Mevrouw W.Waggel zijn vaste bewoners van het langs de Museumtramlijn gelegen Piet Kranenborgpad. Terwijl mevrouw nog even toilet wenst te maken vóór het poseren ( en daar natuurlijk eindeloos mee van doen bleek..) houdt de echtgenoot de fotograaf scherp in de gaten om te zien of er nog wat te halen valt qua bikken enzo...

In the north of Berlin-Neukölln, social problems are becoming increasingly acute. Poverty, homelessness, public consumption of heroin and crack, violent crime are now part of everyday life in this residential district. The sad climax of the violence was yesterday's brutal knife attack on two primary school girls at the Evangelical School Neukölln. The perpetrator, as is unfortunately all too often the case with acts of violence, is a male from the Islamic migrant milieu.
Politicians speak of this crime as a regrettable isolated case.
According to current information, one of the seriously injured children is still in danger of dying!

Im Norden von Berlin-Neukölln verschärfen sich die sozialen Probleme zunehmend. Armut, Obdachlosigkeit, öffentlicher Konsum von Heroin und Crack, Gewaltkriminalität gehören mittlerweile zum Alltag dieses Wohnviertels. Trauriger Höhepunkt der Gewalt war die gestrige brutale Messerattacke auf zwei Grundschülerinnen in der Evangelischen Schule Neukölln. Der Täter ist, wie leider allzu oft bei Gewalttaten, eine männliche Person aus dem islamisch geprägten Migrantenmilieu.
Politiker sprechen von diesem Verbrechen als einem bedauerlichen Einzelfall.
Nach aktuellen Informationen schwebt eines der schwer verletzten Kinder immer noch in Lebensgefahr!
