Willie and I made brunch today. It was delish. Toasted coconut french toast, chicken sausage, and strawberries and pineapple marinated in sweet lime-orange juice.
I also want to start a set of these wide aperture meal shots I take. Definitely not the best way to photograph food, but I think they're sort of fun. Another here.
I have to admit that a weekend brunch is one of my favorite meals. It's relaxing and delicious and can include both a morning cocktail and a crossword puzzle. The last time we went out for brunch was March 14 in Washington, DC, the weekend life started shutting down thanks to COVID-19. So today it was off to St. Kilda's in Des Moines for some food and drink and puzzles, followed by a walk across Iowa and the purchase of a miniature tree.

Sunday Brunches are a treat. It is the perfect way to end a morning weekend just before we go back to our usual breakfast routine of low fat yogurt, cereals and fruits.
So today we had poached eggs (my very first attempt to make one!). Then I fried some left over bacon. As soon as the bacon were done, I sautéed the onions, fresh button mushrooms and spinach (purchased from the weekend market yesterday) in butter and bacon fat. When the spinach wilted, I sprinkled a little salt and pepper and placed everything on top of a slice of toast followed by the bacon and then the poached egg. :)

I shoot a lot of sports, so normally do not use VR, it did help with this shot, 1/20 sec handheld; the latest generation of VR is amazing.
