A red-browed finch.
It was so nice to be able to spend some time outdoors, and in the company of such lovely creatures. It is something that I have missed.
Seen on Anton Lakes: Haven't got a clear shot of the head but wing patterns and general colouring seem to indicate the yellow-browed warbler!
RSPB: (www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/bird-and-wildlife-guid...)
A small, green warbler similar in size to a goldcrest. The yellow 'eyebrow' is distinctive, as is the coal tit-like call. Yellow-browed warblers breed in Siberia and occur in the UK every year as they migrate south-westwards.
Overview
Latin name: Phylloscopus inornatus
Family: Warblers and allies (Sylviidae)
Where to see them:
Coastal trees and scrub, arriving on the east coast initially, though some birds do make it into south-west England.
When to see them:
From September to November; a few birds may attempt to spend winter in this country.
What they eat: Insects
This motmot is number 14 of 15 drawings in Tim Jeffs' colouring book Rainforest Birds.
The motmots or Momotidae are a family of birds in the near passerine order Coraciiformes, which also includes the kingfishers, bee-eaters and rollers.
(I think Tim Jeffs has caught the likeness to a kingfisher exactly!)
All extant motmots are restricted to woodland or forests in the Neotropics, most are in Middle America.
In Costa Rica the Turquoise-browed is sometimes known as the 'foolish bird' as it allows humans to get close to it! Also known as the 'clock bird' because it wags its tail like a pendulum.
I would call it the 'tick tock bird'!

I really like these small flitty ground-foragers. It's a white-browed scrubwren (Sericornis frontalis) common along the western, southern and eastern parts of Austrlia.

Breakfast time for a White-Browed Bulbul.
Scientific Name : Pycnonotus luteolus
Saw something moving around in the bushes, went closer and realized it was a parent feeding a juvenile. Unfortunately couldn't get photos of the action as the birds were pretty deep in the bushes. Just then, the adult jumped out into the open to grab a fruit, and fortunately for me, I was ready. :-)
Just in case people aren't sure what the white drops around the bird are (Yep, I've had questions on that too!) - those would be dew drops splattering all around because of the bird plucking out the fruit. ;-)
