I had some extra time on Tuesday before going to work so I took a short drive around town. I like the colorful tree juxtaposed with the old, worn out building.
A man popped out from the bushes on the other side of the tracks and scared me to death. I think the poor fellow was homeless. We struck up a little conversation and I left when he asked if I wanted to see inside, politely declining his offer.
A really old photo, taken out of a back of a hired minibus. The glass just smashed - we think from a stone from somewhere, but as staff, I then had to sit in the 'dicey' seat for the rest of the daytrip. I remembered about this when I was thinking about photos for iPlymouth's current competition (Theme: through an open door, window or gate), but I don't think I'll enter it - even though I like it - as it's not open, it's broken!
I hope to get a new entry or two instead. This is Slapton Beach with Torcross in the distance.

Doors separated five or six side by side greenhouses at the abandoned nursery. All the greenhouses were in advanced stages of deterioration and decay.
The hand prints on the kitchen wall in the trash infested house give a sense of the desperation of the squatters who spent time in this place. A 1998 Emerald Queen Casino calendar is pasted to the wall above.
The Ballyglunin train station in Co. Galway, Ireland stands in a state of disrepair.
The station famously featured in 'The Quiet Man' movie starring John Wayne.
~ The Babe, Sandlot Kids
Secret #1 (other than the fact that this movie ranks quite high on my all time favourite list)
I love taking photos of all things old, broken, vintage, or as Dave so eloquently puts it, 'dead things'. To me they have a great sense of charm. Call me weird, but I could spend all day in a junkyard, antique store or old run down farm house. There is probably no bigger smile on my face than when I am driving through a country side and I spot an old shed or windmill :)
Playing with images - I've now decided the rose doesn't work, it needs something else but I'm unsure what..
