Not sure what this was, chickens?

... Honestly, I didn't even know the rainbow was there until I continued riding my motorcycle and looked back.

For a couple of blocks around this location you can still see the effects and repairs from World War 2 bomb damage.

Although you can hardly tell it from this photo, the glass in the door is still intact. On it, it says "Densmore Post Office" with the hours and the zip code (if you look closely, you can see the "D" in Densmore).

The post office closed in 1980.

Better call the repair person because something needs fixing.

My trek down Moffat road ended with the nice discovery of Moffat Tunnel. It is a railroad tunnel that cuts through the Continental Divide. (photo soon!) It opened in 1928. At the site are several abandoned cabins, severely vandalized and broken down. I was surprised to see furniture still in them....of course rotting amongst the debris of falling roofs and neglect. The wind blew very strong that day and the curtains in the windows would first blow in, and then get sucked back out to billow and flap. It was a forlorn and empty feeling watching the curtains, which came to life with the wind, only to be dead and lonely again once the wind stopped.

Construction of Rillway Cabin began in 1918 and took about three years to complete. The name “Rillway” is a portmanteau of the names of Nellie Averill and her son-in-law Floyd Holloway, who bought the cabin around 1924. The cabin is located next to Highway 12, about 50 miles south of Helena, Montana and offers easy access year round. Inside, it has three bunk beds, an extra large kitchen table, plenty of counter space and a wood stove for heat. It also has a fireplace insert. Firewood is provided by the Townsend Ranger District. There is no electricity, appliances, lights or plumbing and a few of the windows have been broken and covered with plywood. The rental fee is $45 a night.
