A 1x6 tile broke today while I was breaking up a building. I thought "Oh well", shrugged my shoulders and threw it in the bin. Then another broke. Ok, not doing so great. Then a third ... what the?

Is it normal for tiles to start breaking like this?

This was so interesting. In the space of two days a tea cup I use and a tea pot I use both broke. I've been using these for over 2 decades. These didn't fall on the floor to break. No. They just came apart. RIP.

This was taken at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge near Sherwood Oregon... This mother Killdeer was trying to lure us away from her nest where the red is on the ground and she was doing that broken-winged act that they do to get us to come for her... BTW, if the rangers hadn't put that red ring around the nest I would never have seen it... The eggs, which I have pictured below, look like rocks and blend in with the gravel in the roadway.. Very good camouflage....

This broken padlock I found today while walking on the bridge through the Moskva-river.

There is a many wedding companies and walking jolly people. A bunch of funny padlocks can be found on the bridge. Here is a tradition for just married or couples in love to leave locked padlocks on the cast-iron barrier of the bridge while keys throw out to the river.

They believes that it magically locks and holds their love feelings to each other.

This one has a title, partially on russian and partially on english ("Суслики in the love"),

so I'll try to translate - "ground squirrels in love".

I really know nothing about this broken padlock and the story behind him, but I think that this story is sad.

Now I'm all for freedom of interpretation and all and I'm glad people are finding it interesting and are able to find a connection with it. I truly take that as a compliment being an artist that I can affect someone like that. Having said that, if you look at the original piece you'll see that it was about the loss of my dad, and my heartbreak was one of grieving and emptiness and confusion- not of something brought about by anything "romantic".

I guess I probably should have named it something else, because this wasn't really a "heart break" as much as it was more like having my heart completely ripped from my chest while watching my world explode into oblivion. So this was catharsis.

Ok, enough of the dramatic stuff, I'm really a pretty happy person despite all that.

Thanks again for all the views/comments/favorites- I really appreciate it, I just wanted to tell you what the drawing means to ME and it's original purpose, but please feel free to keep interpreting it any way you can.

Shot box speed, despite being 23 years expired and having an unknown storage history.

Physical slides are very dark, and even with a high exposure setting in VueScan they were each pulled up another 1.5 to 2 stops in processing.

Color balance for mids and highs lead to significant magenta hue in shadows which was corrected for in some but not all of these.

Easter cupcakes for hubby's niece and nephew, since I realised last night with horror that I didn't have any easter eggs for them.. oops! I only just got back from a trip yesterday, so wasn't organised. I hope they're suitably grossed out by them :-P

Mini vanilla buttermilk cupcakes with white chocolate buttercream, and a dollop of lemon curd for the yolk. The egg shells I made out of white chocolate.

I can't believe I managed to pull these together on such short notice with no groceries in the house. I had ONE lemon on the tree to make the lemon curd out of, half a bag of white chocolate buttons for the shells, only JUST enough eggs, the exact amount of buttermilk in the freezer.... the cake Gods were on my side!
