Every morning brings a new opportunity for this Mohave Rattlesnake. A nice sunbath following a long night of cooler temperatures may seem ideal, though a roadway can become a danger with quickly approaching vehicles!

Happy winter solstice and happy summer solstice to people in the southern hemisphere!
Joyeux solstice d'hiver!
ainsi qu'un joyeux solstice d'été aux gens de l'hémisphère sud!
"The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left alone.
They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love.
They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over.
The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be.
Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror.
TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone."
Dog friendly Moss Beach Distillery, just north of Half Moon Bay, California. They (or you) might even spot the ghost alleged to be haunting the place.
Bringing up the rear of an empty coal train, BNSF 9979 helps slow its train to a stop as they occupy the main at SSS Longs Peak. To my knowledge, no H2 SD70MACs are currently equipped with PTC. This in mind, it was a nice treat to find one working in coal service, fulfilling the same role they were built for over 25 years later.

Visit Small Heath
maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kassau/126/113/3475
Small Heath is an area in South-East Birmingham, West Midlands, England. Small Heath, which has been settled and used since Roman times, sits on top of a small hill. The slightly elevated site offers poor agricultural land, lying on a glacial drift of sand, gravel, and clay.
These harsh lands make it difficult to grow crops, however it is wonderful for factories to thrive in. Steam trains were booming with passengers, as many flocked to visit, and live within the small town of Small Heath for work. It was a quiet, quaint, and unusually always dark. Businesses, and trades were sky high once this small town came to prosper. Every where you looked is grand scales of awe and smog.
Amongst the polluted air lurks a dark secret. One that frightens even the toughest of bloke's. Newspapers reporting of strange figures in the night, large creatures lurking in the forests, grave robbing, and people going missing. It filters in with notorious crime lords descending on Small Heath, or so it is reported. Who truly knows what lurks in the shadows, the back alley dealings, shady hand shakes over drinks?
The most recent news articles say: Numerous reports of graves being disturbed. Spotting of The Diamond Rat Crew making moves on rival gang members in town. Missing girls corpse discovered, bear attack most likely. And Coppers being gunned down in the streets, one survivor held in police custody for questioning.
Needless to say, you need all the moxy you can muster to make it here in Small Heath. Don't get to comfortable, you never know who is watching.

Maryland Midland SD40-2 3451 (a former Southern Pacific SD45 rebuilt into a "SD40M-2" but labeled on the cab as "SD40-2") led a Herzog ballast train across the former PRR Keymar trestle on a beautiful sunny morning in Carroll County, Maryland.

Sunlight through cherry blossoms in the suburbs of Basingstoke. The words of the Morcambe and Wise song came to mind - I loved their humour!
"Bring me sunshine
in your smile,
Bring me laughter
all the while,
In this world where we live
there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give
to each brand new bright tomorrow,
Make me happy through the years
never bring me any tears,
Let your arms be as warm
as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love!"
