Near Ligonier, Indiana. A short remnant later bypassed by a smoother curve.
Interesting way that the curve was bricked. I've seen several methods for curving a brick road but never one quite like this.
Jamie brought these home from a job site for me and I put them down...now I want more so I can do the whole garden :-)
Rainbow Bricks returned to Medowie for Medowie Brickfest on a beautiful sunny Spring Saturday 15th September. This community event was a successful day for everyone. And was one of the first events to support all 3 Medowie schools.
We had over 35 Rainbow Bricks exhibitors from across NSW bring their creations and collections to display. Included were many first time exhibitors who had a ball and will be back again to display.
There was something for the kids of all ages. There were displays with vintage sets through to some brand new sets such as Hogwarts Castle and motorised Roller Coast. Of course we have lots of MOCs [My Own Creations] on display including a huge new city tower building and a motorised Dr Who's K9.
As well as displays we had plenty of activities for the kids and the yong at heart to do after being inspirated by the displays. There was a new Tower building activity for the kids which was a hit and will be at other events going forward. As a result of the kids work we have some ideas on improving this activity which is great. Plus all the old favourities like the Build area, RC Tracker driving area and the Speed Builds where there and as popular as ever.
Fountain Square is one of three art districts in Indianapolis. Lots to see, do, eat, and drink...and buy! I took this series of photos within a 20 minute time frame on a very hot day. I want to return when it's cooler.
Bricks crossing on the outdoor BART station platform at MacArthur. The concrete was a spooky shade of green, way more ominous than in daylight; it's as if they were getting ready for St. Patrick's Day.

TWIN BRICKS
Twin-Bricks, consists of two wings - A five unit rental dwelling and the owner’s own two-family house. It is located in a quiet residential area, just 20 minutes by train from Tokyo. In order to secure some space for the owner’s car collection, the owner’s wing (RC Wing) stands closer to the road than the rental wing (S Wing). The rental wing is clad in both autoclaved lightweight concrete (ALC) panels as well as glass blocks.
S WING
The S Wing, based on the previously completed “Crystal Brick” House, introduces ALC panels as aseismatic elements in order to improve cost-effectiveness in the face of earthquake safety. The arrangement of glass block and ALC panel was derived from a series of experiments. The results showed that the ALC panel fail leaving the glass blocks intact, providing enhanced safety for the occupants. An intriguing spatial composition materializes due to the seemingly random composition of the glass block and ALC Panels which hide all structure.
RC WING
With the purpose of alleviating noise from the garage and providing a sense of privacy for the owners, Atelier Tekuto Co., Ltd. created the “RC structure + exterior thermal insulation” construction method. Costs were significantly reduced by introducing high-pressure wood wool cement boards and integrating the boards as form works. Original tiles were also developed after careful consideration.
The overall experience of Twin Bricks is heightened by the juxtaposition of the heavy RC wing and light S wing and between the transparency of glass versus the opacity of the ALC panels. Though these materials seem to be in antithesis, they exhibit a material harmony when partnered together.

敷地は、JR浦和駅・中浦和駅の中間の徒歩15分圏内に位置し、閑
静な住宅街にある、ｵｰﾅｰ2世帯・賃貸5戸の共同住宅である。ｵｰﾅｰ
の趣味である車の所有台数が多いことから、手前にｵｰﾅｰ棟（RC造
)、奥に賃貸棟(S造)を配した。
賃貸棟は、以前に竣工した「クリスタル・ブリック」をベースに
コストパフォーマンスの向上を図る為、GBの一部にALCを配し、
そのALCをもGB同様、耐震要素として構造に効かせている。ALCを
ランダムに配置したことにより、構造の壁・柱・梁といった要素
が明確でなくなり、不思議な空間構成となっている。RC棟は、ガ
レージでの作業音軽減、及びｵｰﾅｰ棟のプライバシー確保・性能向
上の為、天工人にて開発をしたRC造＋外断熱工法を採用した。価
格も\18,000/㎡に抑えることが可能となった。
重厚なRC棟と軽やかなS棟の対比、異素材でありながら物性上ほ
ぼ等価な物性を示したGBとALCの対比。そこから生まれる空間の
対比がより面白い空間を演出している。

An Abstract image of a brick wall taken on the Blackpool promenade, Lancashire, England.
The images in this series were inspired by Mishka Henner's 'No Man's Land', a series created using Google Maps randomly taken images on the roadside. This series is created in the same way by photographing from the window of my car while driving around my local area. However, I added my own personal touch by zooming in and positioning the camera to get abstract style images and this is the result. I believe this concept is what truly has made these images rather different if not unique. This series also shows how our streets that we walk along every day can be made into art if you just take the time to look at it in a different way. It showcases the natural beauty of our manmade structures and local wildlife amongst it that we often take for granted.

Walking back from taking this photo, I noticed the lines of the adjoining warehouse which I thought would make a nice monochrome shot (and I reckon I was right, especially in the largest sizes where the detail can be seen). However, because it was only red brickwork against a blue sky the colour version was also OK, and in a moment of decisive fence-sitting I uploaded both.
I did a bit of Photoshopping here to boost the contrast, blacken the blacky bits, etc etc, so I'm pleased with how much detail in the bricks was retained, especially since it was only the kit lens (seen best in the larger sizes). The whole thing ~ circular windows, multiple arches, perspective lines, repeating pattern of the roofs ~ has come together nicely.
At Blackley clay and shale have been mined and quarried from the mid 19th century and in the twentieth century became the home of "Wilkinsons of Elland" who stamped that proud boast on all their bricks. This brickworks closed in 1985.
The quarry has now became a landfill site but luckily a few buildings from the Blackley Mine have survived.
