Sita Ram Kirtan and Guru Invocation Pranams Govindas - Bhakti Yoga Shala youtu.be/gbmNj6gOSdA www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oClMRfmzKU Sita Ram Kirtan and Guru Invocation Pranams Govindas - Bhakti Yoga Shala. On the eve of the birth of his second child, Govindas leads an incredibly passionate and heart felt Kirtan, evolving into a 38 minute high energy rendition of Sita Ram. In the ancient texts of the Ramayana, Ram means Our Soul, or the super consciousness, truth and virtue. And Sita - the eternal consort of Ram - means the primal energy or the Kundalini Shakti. Feminine dynamic. Together they compliment and complete the whole. The Sita Ram mantra balances the both sides of brain. It harmonizes and vitalizes the whole body, cleansing toxins and impurities, removing blockages and activating our self awareness... shedding light in what were once dark recesses of our body, mind, spirit trinity. About Govindas: Govindas's yoga classes are an innovative approach and play between form and formless, honoring defined traditional vinyasa yoga structures and the inner creative and playful impulse... He recognizes and shares the power of spiritual ritual- of which for the most part has been lost in our modern day culture- and its power to deepen our connection with Spirit-... his classes infuse a healing breath-based approach to hatha yoga (directly drawn from his experience with his own disease) and the devotion of bhakti- "our yoga is a manifestation and affirmation of our dedication to love, health, and longevity." As a healing artform, Govindas intends to create an environment where the yogi/yogini can find a nurturing, nourishing, and balancing experience of breath, energy, and movement/circulation.... As a bhakti artform Govindas encourages yoga in the spirit of celebrating life, body and relationship and the greatest of all gifts, a human birth.... an opportunity to invoke and open up to "Grace"... Along with traditional yoga asanas, kriyas and breathing techniques, chanting/kirtan/mantras and free form movement/dancing are frequently used as methods to promote joy and "open up the heart"… Bikram Yoga inpsired Class with Maggie Grove youtu.be/V5i5Qz2IGJE Power Yoga for Weight Loss youtu.be/yUtK7v3dsr0 Strong Yoga For Beginners Workout youtu.be/xglmLhDppmo Meditative Bhakti Yoga Flow youtu.be/mQnAvEbDNPg Cardio Yoga Workout youtu.be/hy-qss2Takg Yoga Workout 1 hour Yoga For Weight Loss youtu.be/yUtK7v3dsr0 Power Yoga Flow youtu.be/XpGnuK_u4gQ Bhakti Yoga Class youtu.be/K9scEzgir-8 Yoga for Beginners youtu.be/EaKZ3Xtxf5A Mindfulness Meditation youtu.be/2K-ZcAgka2g Gentle Yin Yoga Full Class youtu.be/Z3AlyD1CIJw Bhakti Yoga flow heart opening yoga workout with Kumi Yogini youtu.be/onS6uq94NHw Bhakti yoga class yoga flow with Kumi Yogini ॐ youtu.be/K9scEzgir-8 bhakti yoga class with Kumi Yogini youtu.be/ch4CEW-vEoc Advanced Yoga Workout - Inversions, Hand Stand, Core Work youtu.be/KbLVYpQ74Zo Bhakti Yoga Flow youtu.be/KvhIvZyemtI Inspired Yoga Workout with Breathwork youtu.be/_wG5hEBrMJQ Strong beginners Yoga Workout with JQ Williams youtu.be/vQdOhTKfEt8 Bhakti Yoga flow yoga workout youtu.be/VPmOF99bBHg Beginners Yoga Flow 2015 youtu.be/Dva-ThUN6Ww Bhakti Yoga Flow with Kumi Yogini 2015 youtu.be/onS6uq94NHw Yoga for Beginners Level 1 yoga workout youtu.be/f2sIjOHFZuU Yoga Flow youtu.be/YKVhB4TxuwU 40 Minute Yin Yoga Class youtu.be/O_Vg-j5lkuA Strong Power Yoga Flow youtu.be/UwJFpTRXI-g Yoga flow daily recharge total body workout youtu.be/LiTlpC0RU6Q Strong Power Yoga Flow youtu.be/Ua10v6kw27c 30 Minute Power Yoga Flow with Twists for detox youtu.be/Sy25cbDGqBM 30 Minute Daily Yoga Flow for weight loss youtu.be/Vc4u04a5A4o Yoga for Beginners youtu.be/3gWJBgAIXwg Click below to subscribe to our channel: youtube.com/heartalchemyyoga Our Sites www.heartalchemyyoga.com plus.google.com/+HeartAlchemy... facebook.com/heartalchemyyoga instagram.com/travlinyogini twitter.com/travlinyogini www.pinterest.com/travlinyogini www.michellegoldsteinyoga.com

"Kundalini Dance is a contemporary ecstatic dance journey into the seven chakras where dance-movement therapy, rhythmic breath, tantric-healing, trance energy and Shamanic States are used to enter into the body/mind consciousness to gain insight and healing for body-mind and soul. Kundalini Dance balances the chakras as a whole system and so results in physical and emotional healing.
Each chakra governs different organs, body parts, and emotions. Core issues relating to survival, creativity, sexuality, personal power/control, love, relationships, communication, intuition, and spirituality are all expressed through the chakras. Combining, rhythmic breathing techniques that purify and express the energy of each chakra with dance movements, shifts stagnant energy and repressed emotions that have been trapped in the mind and in the cells of the body. It is through this dance practice that we can let go of stress, anger, grief, fear, and negativity. Our breath is a powerful tool for transformation; it's the key to physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, taking you to natural states of ecstasy. It rejuvenates the body, bringing insight and clarity to the mind, and supports the awakening of higher consciousness."

So these are the new fins I got, they feel really good but it's going to take some time getting used to. It's been over five years since I've used fins and been in open water.
I also got new goggles. They're to this point the most comfortable and reliable goggles I have ever used in my life. I'll see how they do in ocean water.
Today I went swimming to get back my breathing technique. I did a couple laps and then I started to tread for moments at a time. I don't think I'll panic like I did the first time.

we've been continuing odin's swimming lessons; we're not really following any official program and are just letting him get used to being in water much deeper than his bath at his own pace.
he's getting much more confident and today he thought it might be fun to repeatedly dive his head in the water while standing on the pool steps. perhaps he remembered the breathing technique his mamma taught him because he didn't suck in any water and seemed to think it was the best fun ever.
i'm not sure what he was thinking. maybe he saw his reflection in the water? or maybe he thought it was time to dunk his head under water just like he's seen the big kids do.

Arthurs Landing is a group of musicians, all of whom worked at various times in various contexts with the late Arthur Russell, a cellist and composer from Iowa who lived on the Lower East Side for most of the later part of his too-short life. Russell brought together the worlds of dance, pop, and folk with that of downtowns new music, and fused Western and Eastern musical traditions, driven by his engagement with Buddhist thought and practice. He collaborated often with Allen Ginsberg, and Phillip Glass was also an early mentor. Characteristic of Russell's method was his tendency to work hard and long, and he rarely considered anything finished. What was his unending pursuit of the ineffable becomes a challenge and inspiration for the Arthurs Landing ensemble. It is hard to resist the ambition and humor behind compositions with titles like Temple of Meaning, Terrace of Intelligibility, and Hop on Down to Petland. Russell is the focus of the feature-length 2008 documentary directed by Matt Wolf, Wild Combination. A biography by Tim Lawrence, Hold Onto Your Dreams, is due out this year.
The Arthurs Landing ensemble will perform pop songs and parts of a longer instrumental work called Singing Tractors and will be available following the performance to answer questions about Russells life and work.

We ate lunch at the VCC Grille enjoying some Southwestern Grouper (lightly sauteed, over black beans, topped with salsa). Then we practiced some new things we'd each learned in the pool. I used the noodle to move my arms and make bicycle movements with my legs. I also laid back on the noodle, relaxed, closed my eyes, and floated. She used some new breathing techniques for improved swimming. See photos below.
Then I went over to the fitness center and worked out on the upper body machines with Billy and walked on the elliptical machine. I have also walked to the mailbox and back twice today. The last time I was fighting gnats and mosquitoes the whole way.
It was 93 degrees today with 53% humidity. It seems a little cooler and not quite as sticky as it has been this summer. The low tonight will be around 73 degrees with a slight chance of rain.
Italian technoproducer Lucy and yoga teacher and cultural anthropologist Amanda Morelli did a very special performance in the Amsterdam based 4DSound Studio on the 11th of january. Body Echoes integrated traditional Eastern breathing techniques with Lucy's field-recordings. All this was translated for the 24 speakers of the spatial sound system in 4DSound. It resulted in a fascinating multidimensional, collective experience where techno was as far of as the dancefloor was.

The didgeridoo (also known as a didjeridu or didge) is a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians of northern Australia at least 1,500 years ago and is still in widespread usage today both in Australia and around the world. It is sometimes described as a natural wooden trumpet or "drone pipe". Musicologists classify it as a brass aerophone.[1]
There are no reliable sources stating the didgeridoo's exact age. Archaeological studies of rock art in Northern Australia suggest that the Aboriginal people of the Kakadu region of the Northern Territory have been using the didgeridoo for at least 1,500 years, based on the dating of paintings on cave walls and shelters from this period. A clear rock painting in Ginga Wardelirrhmeng, on the northern edge of the Arnhem Land plateau, from the freshwater period[2] shows a didgeridoo player and two songmen participating in an Ubarr Ceremony.[3]
A modern didgeridoo is usually cylindrical or conical, and can measure anywhere from 1 to 3 m (3 to 10 ft) long. Most are around 1.2 m (4 ft) long. The length is directly related to the 1/2 sound wavelength of the keynote. Generally, the longer the instrument, the lower the pitch or key of the instrument.
Contents
"Didgeridoo" is considered to be an onomatopoetic word of Western invention. It has also been suggested that it may be derived from the Irish words dúdaire or dúidire, meaning variously 'trumpeter; constant smoker, puffer; long-necked person, eavesdropper; hummer, crooner' and dubh, meaning "black" (or dúth, meaning "native").[4] However, this theory is not widely accepted.
The earliest occurrences of the word in print include a 1919 issue of Smith's Weekly where it was referred to as an "infernal didjerry" which "produced but one sound - (phonic) didjerry, didjerry, didjerry and so on ad infinitum", the 1919 Australian National Dictionary, The Bulletin in 1924 and the writings of Herbert Basedow in 1926. There are numerous names for this instrument among the Aboriginal people of northern Australia, with yiḏaki one of the better known words in modern Western society. yiḏaki, also sometimes spelt yirdaki, refers to the specific type of instrument made and used by the Yolngu people of north-east Arnhem Land. Many[who?] believe that it is a matter of etiquette to reserve tribal names for tribal instruments, though retailers and businesses have been quick to exploit these special names for generic tourist-oriented instruments.
[edit] Regional names for the didgeridoo
There are at least 45 different synonyms for the didgeridoo. The following are some of the more common regional names.[5]

Authentic Aboriginal didgeridoos are produced in traditionally oriented communities in Northern Australia or by makers who travel to Central and Northern Australia to collect the raw materials. They are usually made from hardwoods, especially the various eucalyptus species that are endemic to the region.[6] Sometimes a native bamboo, such as Bambusa arnhemica, or pandanus is used. Generally the main trunk of the tree is harvested, though a substantial branch may be used instead. Aboriginal didgeridoo craftsmen place branches and trunks of specific woods in an active termite area. The termites prefer soft wood and naturally hollow the wood out, it is then collected by the craftsmen. If the hollow is too big or too small, it will make a poor quality instrument.
Once the naturally hollowed out wood is retrieved, the bark is taken off, the ends trimmed, and the exterior is shaped; this results in a finished instrument. This instrument may be painted or left undecorated. A rim of beeswax may be applied to the mouthpiece end. Traditional instruments made by Aboriginal craftsmen in Arnhem Land are sometimes fitted with a 'sugarbag' mouthpiece. This black beeswax comes from wild bees and has a distinctive aroma.
Non-traditional didgeridoos can also be made from PVC piping, non-native hard woods (typically split, hollowed and rejoined), glass, fiberglass, metal, agave, clay, hemp (a bioplastic named zelfo), and even carbon fiber. These didges typically have an upper inside diameter of around 1.25" down to a bell end of anywhere between two to eight inches and have a length corresponding to the desired key. The mouthpiece can be constructed of beeswax, hardwood or simply sanded and sized by the craftsman. In PVC, an appropriately sized rubber stopper with a hole cut into it is equally acceptable, or to finely sand and buff the end of the pipe to create a comfortable mouthpiece.
Modern didgeridoo designs are distinct from the traditional Australian Aboriginal didgeridoo, and are innovations recognized by musicologists.[7][8] Didgeridoo design innovation started in the late 20th Century using non-traditional materials and non-traditional shapes.
The didgeridoo is played with continuously vibrating lips to produce the drone while using a special breathing technique called circular breathing. This requires breathing in through the nose whilst simultaneously expelling stored air out of the mouth using the tongue and cheeks. By use of this technique, a skilled player can replenish the air in their lungs, and with practice can sustain a note for as long as desired. Recordings exist of modern didgeridoo players playing continuously for more than 40 minutes; Mark Atkins on Didgeridoo Concerto (1994) plays for over 50 minutes continuously.
Fellow of the British Society Anthony Baines wrote that the didgeridoo functions "...as an aural kaleidoscope of timbres"[9] and that "the extremely difficult virtuoso techniques developed by expert performers find no parallel elsewhere."[9]
[edit] Decoration
Many didgeridoos are painted using traditional or modern paints by either their maker or a dedicated artist, however it is not essential that the instrument be decorated. It is also common to retain the natural wood grain with minimal or no decoration. Some modern makers deliberately avoid decoration if they are not of Indigenous Australian descent, or leave the instrument blank for an Indigenous Australian artist to decorate it at a later stage.
[edit] Physics and operation
A termite-bored didgeridoo has an irregular shape that, overall, usually increases in diameter towards the lower end. This shape means that its resonances occur at frequencies that are not harmonically spaced in frequency. This contrasts with the harmonic spacing of the resonances in a cylindrical plastic pipe, whose resonant frequencies fall in the ratio 1:3:5 etc. The second resonance of a didgeridoo (the note sounded by overblowing) is usually around an 11th higher than the fundamental frequency (a frequency ratio somewhat less than 3:1).
The vibration produced by the player's lips has harmonics, i.e., it has frequency components falling exactly in the ratio 1:2:3 etc. However, the non-harmonic spacing of the instrument's resonances means that the harmonics of the fundamental note are not systematically assisted by instrument resonances, as is usually the case for Western wind instruments (e.g., in a clarinet, the 1st 3rd and 5th harmonics of the reed are assisted by resonances of the bore, at least for notes in the low range).
Sufficiently strong resonances of the vocal tract can strongly influence the timbre of the instrument. At some frequencies, whose values depend on the position of the player's tongue, resonances of the vocal tract inhibit the oscillatory flow of air into the instrument. Bands of frequencies that are not thus inhibited produce formants in the output sound. These formants, and especially their variation during the inhalation and exhalation phases of circular breathing, give the instrument its readily recognizable sound.
Other variations in the didgeridoo's sound can be made by adding vocalizations to the drone. Most of the vocalizations are related to sounds emitted by Australian animals, such as the dingo or the kookaburra. To produce these sounds, the players simply have to use their vocal cords to produce the sounds of the animals whilst continuing to blow air through the instrument. The results range from very high-pitched sounds to much lower guttural vibrations. Adding vocalizations increases the complexity of the playing.
[edit] Cultural significance
Traditionally and originally, the didgeridoo was primarily played as an accompaniment to ceremonial dancing and singing. However, it was also common for didgeridoos to be played for solo or recreational purposes outside of ceremonial gatherings. For surviving Aboriginal groups of northern Australia, the didgeridoo is still an integral part of ceremonial life, as it accompanies singers and dancers in cultural ceremonies that continue. Today, the majority of didgeridoo playing is for recreational purposes in both Indigenous Australian communities and elsewhere around the world.
Pair sticks, sometimes called clapsticks or bilma, establish the beat for the songs during ceremonies. The rhythm of the didgeridoo and the beat of the clapsticks are precise, and these patterns have been handed down for many generations. Traditionally, only men play the didgeridoo and sing during ceremonial occasions, although both men and women may dance. Female didgeridoo players did exist, but their playing took place in an informal context and was not specifically encouraged. Linda Barwick, an ethnomusicologist, says that though traditionally women have not played the didgeridoo in ceremony, in informal situations there is no prohibition in the Dreaming Law.[10] On September 3, 2008, however, publisher Harper Collins issued a public apology for its book "The Daring Book for Girls", scheduled to be published in October, which openly encouraged girls to play the instrument.[11][12]
[edit] Didgeridoo in popular culture
The didgeridoo also became a role playing instrument in the experimental and avant-garde music scene. Industrial music bands like Test Department generated sounds from this instrument and used them in their industrial performances, linking ecology to industry, influenced by ethnic music and culture.
It has also been an instrument used for the fusion of tribal rhythms with a black metal sound, a music project called Naakhum that used the paganism of the Australian tribes and many others as an approach.
[edit] Health benefits
A 2005 study in the British Medical Journal found that learning and practicing the didgeridoo helped reduce snoring and sleep apnea by strengthening muscles in the upper airway, thus reducing their tendency to collapse during sleep.[13] This strengthening occurs after the player has mastered the circular breathing technique.

for anyone who has attended a taoist funeral and wondered what the beliefs are and what the ceremonies signify. I'm still confused, but am a little less than what i was before.
Funeral ceremonies
Taoist ceremonies for the dead often include an altar upon which are placed a sacred lamp, two candles, tea, rice, and water. The sacred lamp symbolizes the light of wisdom, yet it could also be referred to as the Golden Pill or Elixir of Immortality. On each side of the lamp are two tall candles that symbolize the light of the sun, moon, and both eyes of the human body. The tea, rice and water are put in cups in front of the altar. The tea symbolizes yin, water is the energy of the yang, and rice represents the union of the yin and the yang.
Five plates of fruit are used to symbolize the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. These elements are further equated with specific colors: green, red, yellow, white, and black. These elements all go in a cycle that when balanced ensure that the body is healthy. An incense burner is placed in the middle of the five elements. The burning of the incense represents refinement and purification of the soul, also known as the inner energies.
The ceremony usually takes place in a person’s house and is held over an odd number of days, usually three, five or seven days. The candle is lit up for the body all that time before burial. During the vigil and the funeral the relatives wear white.
Immortality
A very common and major goal of most Taoists is to achieve immortality rather than enter the regular after life. Reaching this goal is not easy; there are various tasks that must me met during your entire lifetime to be qualified to be immortal. The two different categories of requirements for immortality include internal alchemy and external alchemy.
External alchemy is mastering special breathing techniques, sexual practices, physical exercises, yoga, attempting to produce an elixir of immortality by consuming purified metals and complex compounds, and to develop medical skills. In Taoism one’s soul or energy is considered to be interlocked with the vital energy, which is what nourishes your soul. Riding the body of impurities can increase this energy. Aside from these requirements, you must lead an upright, moral and good-hearted life.
Internal alchemy includes sophisticated visualization, strict dieting, specific sexual exercises and self-control. A strict diet was committed to kill demons within the body and to stimulate and maintain energy. The body is purified by the consumption of refined substances such as, jade or gold. The many different types of meditation all revolved around the common idea of breathing. Much of a Taoist’s time is spent meditating. A popular rule of thumb for breathing techniques include holding one’s breath for 12 heartbeats, better known as a “little tour”, 420 heartbeats is the “grand tour” and the most prominent achievement in breathing is holding one’s breath for 1000 heartbeats. Carl Jung was among those who interpreted internal alchemy in a purely spiritual, rather than physical, sense.
Focus on Life
Taoism places great value in life. It does not focus on life after death, but on health and longevity by living a simple life and having inner peace. It is said that the human body is filled with spirits, gods, or demons. When people die, it is believed that they should do rituals to let the spirits guard the body. The spirits of the dead are routinely communicated with through the assistance of spirit-mediums.
Spirits and Funerals
Taoists have been doing funerals since Taoism began. Funerary practices in Taoism are varied in their details, drawing upon a number of traditions. Taoists are very serious when it comes to nourishing life and sending off the dead. The main purpose for a funeral is to have peace for the souls of the dead and to divide the dead from the living, so that the shadow of death will not linger with the people who are not dead. During funerals chanting Taoist’s scriptures is what they usually do. The “Book of Salvation,” the “Book of the Jade Emperor,” and the “Book of the Three Officials,” are what they mostly read at Taoist funerals. The thing they do in front of gods for confessing their sins and wanting forgiveness is called a litany. Usually during funerals when they do a litany, it is for, if the dead person is guilty of something bad, it will help them go to heaven or have a good reincarnation. Also during funerals, Taoists will light lanterns and candles to make the light shine over hell, so that the spirit of the deceased will leave the state of death. Once night has fallen into complete darkness, the soul of the dead cannot leave without the light. They have to put the lanterns in place according to the locations of the sun, moon, and constellations in the sky, so that the soul can go through the light. When someone dies, an oil lamp will be placed by the dead person’s feet to light a dark path for that person.
Chinese belief is that the world is full of invisible spirits. There are some that are humans who have died but are still able to help some people. They also believe that the world is full of nature spirits: plants, animals, rivers, stones, mountains, and stars. Shangdi, known as the ruler of the universe, was looked at as the great spiritual being. People worshipped spirits to keep their troubles away and to get blessed with health and wealth. Some Taoist believed that spirits extended nature, both the natural world and the inner world within people’s bodies.

Taking the time to sit and reflect on the people that I have in my life and all of the different life situations we go through, I come more and more to appreciate those in my life that help bring positivity and healing.
We're all a little jaded from this world, but there is healing in caring for each other, sharing with each other, and being there for one another. Instead of bottling it all up inside and leaving it as pains in my body, I'm learning again to release and let go of what is no good to me.
If it hadn't been for the love of my life - directing me back to my creative passions, I'd be stuck trying to figure out how to mentally let it all out.. stuck ruminating over negative things all the time.
If it hadn't been for Tan Chai - letting me under her healing wings and giving me the chance to learn Guam's Traditional Healing, I wouldn't have uncovered over again the cultural respect and love that I have for my family, elders, ancestors, and island.
If it hadn't been for Tan Susan - teaching me breathing techniques in order to help me breathe out the negative of the present and past, I wouldn't have been able to heal my past hurts I protected myself from.
If it hadn't been for Ko - helping to spiritually cleanse my mother and I, we would have never begun our journey of healing and coming closer together.
If it hadn't been for my son - loving me unconditionally through my growing and learning to be a mother, I'd have no light that I'd want to shine for.
All these people that I hold close, most especially my son, are my reason to shine my light and to do what is right under the eyes of God. Thank you - God, Universe, Guahan, and My Ancestors - for these people in my life, for helping and guiding me in my journey, in my life. Thank you, most of all, for this opportunity to do the best I can and become the best Clarissa Torres I could possibly be.

Low-impact exercise programme helps to decrease pain, improve mobility and enhance quality of life in older adults with arthritis and other muscle and joint conditions, finds a study.
“Joints will often stiffen if not used and muscles will weaken if not exercised. Our bodies are meant to move, and inactivity leads to weakness and stiffness, and joints with arthritis often worsen with inactivity,” said Theodore Fields, Managing Director of Rheumatology Faculty Practice Plan at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), US.
Participants performed chair and floor mat exercises using stretch bands and other gentle exercises. Chinese breathing techniques and meditation were also integrated into the programme.
A survey was distributed to 256 participants, among whom 93 per cent of participants were female, and 73 per cent were between 60 and 79 years of age before the classes started and again after they ended to evaluate pain, physical function, stiffness, fatigue, balance and other health indicators.
After completing the classes, statistically significant differences were found in pain intensity, physical function, balance, and confidence about exercising without making symptoms worse.
Participants also reported significant improvements in the ability to perform activities of daily living, such as lifting or carrying groceries; climbing stairs; bending, kneeling and stooping; and bathing and getting dressed.
“The study results are consistent with the experience of rheumatologists and with prior studies showing that exercise, even of mild degree, helps with pain. Getting people up and moving does appear to help with mood, pain and overall functioning,” Fields added.
The study was presented at the American Public Health Association annual meeting. Source: IANS Pic by Rohit Suri www.yogagurusuneelsingh.com
