When my daughter and I had completed the Advent jigsaw puzzle we turned it over; this is what it looks like on the back. The puzzle pieces have numbers on the back corresponding to the day of Advent. We broke the puzzle up and put the pieces in each numbered box – ready for next year.

More work about the breaking up.

The Connecticut River is affected by tides -- this point is 17 miles upriver from Long Island Sound -- which makes for interesting ice sculptures as the water beneath the ice rises and falls. (Last winter we had a lot of ice, and as the tide went out one could hear constant cracks and booms as it settled.)
