Thornwick Bay. Just about visible at full-size view are some of the thousands of seabirds which, at this time of year, are constantly moving back and forth from their nests on Bempton Cliffs.

Tidal Breaker, Hunstanton Beach, Norfolk

The USCGC Neah Bay, a 140' Bay class ice breaking tug, works to free the MV Manitoulin from the heavy ice on Lake Erie off Buffalo, NY. The Manitoulin became stuck on the morning of the 22nd after subzero temperatures caused a flash freeze on the lake. The Bristol Bay, another Bay class ice breaking tug, has been on scene since the 23rd and headed into Buffalo to resupply. Additional support from the Canadian Coast Guard in the form of the 240' CCGS Samuel Risley, is also on the way. In all it took all three ice breakers to finally free the Manitoulin on the afternoon of the 25th. 1-25-25
