Here is me, having fun with a flat boring branch photo I took a while ago. God Bless Adobe Photoshop :)))
At the time, this was just another train to shoot. But looking back on it now, there's a few things to like: ex Conrail C40-8W (ex CR 6053), Conrail tri-lights, and an actual TRAIN (31M) on the Porter Branch north of Willow Creek!

66760 David Gordon Harris fights its way through the line side foliage along the branch from Wellington to Donnington RFT. Seen approaching the terminal with an MOD working from Marchwood running as 6Z78 from Eastleigh where the train had overnighted.

Si il y eut du vent

Mais pour chaque instant
Une ramification

Taken after an ice storm in New England. I love the lines and perspective on this image. The mini-icicles hanging from the branches gives it a somewhat dramatic feel. Regardless, this is winter in New England.
Conrail OI-12 spots a cut of hoppers at Allied Plastics on the ex-CNJ Manufacturers Branch in Newark, NJ with a pair of CSX units. Many years ago this branch was filled with consignees, but over time the traffic has decreased, with only three customers now on the line.
15 years ago, the North Pole Express ran up the former New York Central Saginaw branch from Owosso to Chesaning. The train was much smaller in those days, and most of the trip was between 10 and 20 mph. The Saginaw County fairgrounds in Chesaning hosted the North Pole. A few years later, the decision was made to move the North Pole over to Ashley and run up the ex Ann Arbor mainline instead, somewhat due to deteriorating track conditions on the branch north of Oakley. SRI volunteers actually invested a lot of time and money into track work between Oakley and Chesaning in order to continue running 1225 up there, but eventually it became more than they could feasibly do. While the ex AA line is nice, the old NYC was more straight north/south and offered some interesting photos, like the classic Michigan Bean Co elevator in Henderson.

Naked branches and twigs at the top of a tree, seen against a creamy white corrugated iron roof of an old heritage building.
I am glad to be back doing photography at Flickr after a tough year. Things went topsy-turvy I was retrenched in mid-2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown in South Australia. I'm starting with photographs around my workplace, at the spacious campus with lots of trees as well as old and new buildings.
Maybe you are searching among the branches for what only appears in the roots. (Rumi)
