A Collaboration between the Culver Center of the Arts

And The UCR Experimental Acoustic Research Studio (EARS)

Teatro Dello Spirito is a live musical collaboration between sound composer Luca Forcucci and trans-galactic cellist Michael Kott, whose group is called 2 humans & The Cosmos. The duo performs by integrating found sounds recorded from the Amazon forest, abandoned coal mines or urban environments, with hyper-intergalactic cello and brainwave interfaces. Their style pushes the boundaries of electroacoustic music by an integration of improvisation techniques.

I started this a long time ago and finally finished it. My homage to folks who might need help keeping the aliens from stealing their brainwaves . . . ;)

This work was produced in November/December 2011. A final outcome for the 'how to make it big in illustration' project.

Spaceship alike structure where people go in to see their brainwaves beaming. There were too many people on the occasion, so I couldn't go. Oneness exhibition by Mariko Mori, CCBB-DF, Brasilia, Brazil, March 2011.

REPRO FREE

Rebecca Kone (5) and Christopher Hickey (5) from Senior Infants in St Enda’s Primary School, Whitefriar Street Dublin 8 and Rick O’Shea, 2FM, patron of Brainwave, the Irish Epilepsy Association, marked the first European Epilepsy Day which takes place on Valentine’s Day. St Valentine is the patron saint of people with epilepsy and his remains have been kept since 1836 in a shrine in Whitefriar St Carmelite Church.

37,000 people live with epilepsy in Ireland. Brainwave’s ‘Seizure-Aware’ campaign via www.epilepsy.ie marks European Epilepsy Day and aims to explode the myths and remove the stigma surrounding the condition. The campaign focuses on generating more openness and knowledge about epilepsy, improving seizure first aid and addressing care issues for people with epilepsy.

Musical drones have been used as a device in indigenous cultures to induce hypnogogic trances for centuries. More recently, pulses, or beating tones, created through closely tuned drones have been proven through scientific testing to entrain brainwaves into desirable meditative states. Composer David First and Kate Henderson, licensed acupuncturist and drummer, have successfully combined these therapies to facilitate a healing ‘window’.
