Subjects are only able to trigger the camera using their brainwaves once they achieve a certain level of relaxation. At a pre-determined level of alpha activity (relaxation) a signal was sent to the camera to fire via the MindWave device, creating a unique self portrait. Sound by Chris Watson was used as a form of neurofeedback, decreasing in volume as subject became more relaxed. For more info see

WIT: Outside getting mitzi to use her new doggy door.
I live in rented accomodation and since her leg injury (fully recovered) Mitzi stays indoors while I go to work. I asked if I could put a doggy door in and they said no. Over the Christmas break I got a brainwave and decided to buy my own door and refit theres back on when I move. The gift is two fold - from me to Mitzi so she can have the best of both worlds while on her own, and of my friend Anthony who gifted me his experience and time. He and his girlfriend are friends I have made through walking our dogs at the beach. He is also a boat builder and works with wood all day. When Mitzi injured her leg he made me a ramp (bottom right) so mitzi doesn't have to use the steps. This time he came with me to buy the door, doggy door, fittings and paint etc, then he came and measured it all up, and came back this Sat with it ready to be fitted and now mitzi has a doggy door. He doesn't charge me for his time or materials but out of friendship.

Sarah Français' Alpha Project was performed at the Second Nature festival in Aix-en-Provence (France). Music was played live by Greg Lion and Rorre Ecco (Beat Pleasure).
The brainwaves of the dancers were monitored thanks to EMOTIV's EPOC neuroheadset and transformed in real-time in digital visual art projected while the dancers were performing. It offered a new dimension to the artistic performance allowing dancers to express themselves with their bodies and their brains.

Babies like white noise, we're told—it reminds them of the womb. Ellie was being particularly fussy, and I wanted to think of a way to calm her down. Brainwave: buy an album of white noise on iTunes, pop some cans on her head, and voila! Calm, kinda tripped out baby.
(Note: the peace and quiet lasted about ten minutes until she got tired of having earphones on her head and iTunes went to the next song, Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly." Screaming recommenced.)
(Also, yes, of course I tested the headphones myself first to make sure it wasn't too loud.)
