A very rare sighting nowadays, of a Solo providing the 342/344 (Hyde-Backbower-Gee Cross Circulars) service for the day. This is now usually worked by an old Vario, but back when Speedwell had more Solos, this was the norm. It is nice to see a newer (and low floor) vehicle again on this route.
Speedwellbus Optare Solo M780SL MX06 ABO is about to enter Hyde Bus Station, working the 342 route on Saturday the 4th September 2010.
Speedwell have three of these slimline Solos, two are 06-reg and the other a 54-reg. They have never got rid of these smaller ones, but their full-size Solo M920 fleet has rapidly dwindled in recent years, there once being about eight (?) to there being just two. This is due to the fact that they were all leased, and in 2007 Speedwell suddenly had a brainwave - get rid of most of these fine Solos so we don't have to pay the lease, and buy a load of clapped-out Varios going cheap from Stagecoach and run them instead!

Recently, I've been feeling like I do too much tuning out. It's too easy to merely sit and be entertained. I want to keep striving towards my goals, big and small, to improve myself and my photography.
This style was largely inspired by Matt Wisniewski (again). I apparently shared a brainwave with Joel Robison, as well. Props to him on his recent interpretation of the same artist!

OK. Try this out. The computer knows what number you have chosen! Every time!
My first thought was that the government had progressed to being able to listen in to our conversations via computer....so I did the exercise using a silent count.....to my amazement the machine was able to predict my number......so...i knew something was up.....I knew that in order for the government to be able to use our computers in this way (without a simple listening device) they had to have an outside source which would bombard us with microwaves...out computers alone could not bring about the results that I was seeing, so what was the source of these waves?
of course, with an RF signal detector I knew I would probably be able to find the signal that the government was using in conjunction with a home computer, in order to either read our minds or cause us to do or think certain things....sxo i made some phone calls.....
Using a microwave signal strength meter, I borrowed from W.P.I. I have made several objective observations about these signals:
1. they tend to be beamed through the window of a room where one spends the most time, usually the window facing the front street
2. they are specifically directed to target and track a person inside his home
3. the tracking speed is slow, and when the target moves, the signal takes several seconds or minutes to search and find the target at his new location.
4. when the target enters an area in his home that the signal cannot reach, the signal goes on a wide search mode, thinking the target has left his home and is traveling about town.
5. when the primary window is blocked off, within days the signal finds another window or thin wall to penetrate
6. one can feel the effects of this signal, which may induce a dull headache or pressure in the temples
I now believe cell phone towers are used to generate these signals by triangulating hotspots on selected tracked targets. our own home computers perform the calculations necessary to alter the signal of each of three cell phone towers so as to triangulate a hotspot of signal at the target’s location. When the target moves, new calculations have to be made, which takes several seconds. Maybe something else generates the beams, like satellites.
These signals must consist of microwave carriers with ELF modulation, and perhaps with audio or text encoded messages. Some possibilities:
1. the microwaves resonate with DNA, can penetrate flesh and bone, pass through some walls and windows, and are already in use by cell phones.
2. these signals entrain brainwaves into a high-beta state, which causes aggression and stress, or an alpha level that induces hypnotic states and can induce one to think of a specific number.
3. besides the ELF waves that entrain brain states, the carrier may also convey audio messages. I have not verified what these messages are, but they could be something along the lines of “You are angry, You cannot think, You give up, You have no energy, or of course pick number 8…” These audio messages could be modulated into the microwave carrier via frequency modulation, while the ELF brain-entrainment signals could be amplitude modulated.
4. there may also be emotional signatures frequency-modulated into the carrier. These can induce anger, frustration, sadness, or essentially any human emotion into susceptible targets
so after much consideration there are two things I believe you can do. First, you can learn to better cope with these signals. The more you are in control of your own mind and emotions, and the more observant you are about your own behavior, the less influence these signals have upon your thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Knowing is half the battle.
Second, you can take additional steps to reduce the level of EM radiation in your home, by blocking these signals.Standard methods of blocking microwave mind programming signals consist of Faraday cages, but Faraday cages are difficult and expensive to build.
but by using this simple to construct hat you can block most but not all of the signals.....If you need assistance I can help you construct a hat of the right height. When using the hat the machine was only able to predict my number 3 out of the ten tries. One of the times the hat had slid down on my head so we can discount that as a false positive....
So,there you have it! Anybody need a hat?

We took down a massive sycamore tree here, but were left with the stump. The soil was once just under the bottom of the fence. What to do with it? Brainwave. Why not tease away the soil from around the roots, and, hey presto - garden sculpture?
Ha! It's amazing just how tangled roots are beneath a tree. For maybe an hour, I used a spade and, after some months of work, I finished using a teaspoon. 18 wheelbarrows of soil in the end.

Creating works of art through the pure power of thought? What one or two artistically gifted individuals are still dreaming of has already become reality in the "BRAINPALACE". At the Ars Electronica Center, a team of scientists and artists is demonstrating how synchronous brainwaves can be translated into transformative art objects with the help of neurofeedback.
The Fraunhofer exhibition series "Science and Art in Dialogue" opens a research laboratory in the museum with the new research staging BRAINPALACE - BRAINPATTERNS. In a spatial installation with light and sound compositions, visitors to the Ars Electronica Center will be presented with their own brain data live and, for the first time, it will be possible for a group of people to interact mentally with the installation.
Every perception triggers a fireworks display of electrical signals in our brains. The room-filling light and sound installation BRAINPALACE, by the Munich artist Tatjana Busch, offers an impressive experience with its unique aesthetics and design. Through the new "Science-Art-Research" concept, developed by Erika Mondria, inner processes of our mental space, are put in a completely new light of the overall staging.

Thierry Guetta the 46 year old French American Los Angeles based filmmaker and street artist known as Mr. Brainwash has been profiled by Matilda Battersby for the Independent in an article titled ‘Mr Brainwash: Banksy's street-art protégé and his latest brainwave - The master of hype arrives in London for a blockbuster new show’. Battersby states “…when we met last month Mr Brainwash told me he still had no idea what to do with the 120,000ft space [the Old Sorting Office] and isn’t anywhere near finishing the work for it. He has the blind optimism of a child, and is convinced it will come together magically. …He propels himself through the conversation like a Duracell Bunny on steroids, wearing paint-spattered jeans and hoodie. His legs jiggle, his arms flap, he jumps up and down and uses his hands to draw in the air. He’s often been accused of being a fake. But after spending an hour in his company I’m astonished to find myself thinking he’s anything but: kooky, yes; scarily energetic, too; but endearing and bubbling over with vim. If this is an act then he deserves that Oscar. …he says: “I take everything seriously and I do everything with my heart. So when I got the chance of doing something I was like a mental patient who finally got to see a shrink. I vomited out everything I had inside.” ... His signature style pitches somewhere between Banksy’s black and white stencils and Andy Warhol’s colourful prints. The Global Teacher Prize is awarded at the end of the Global Education and Skills Forum by the Varkey Foundation, to honor all the teachers of the world.
Dancers on stage were wearing EMOTIV's Insight neuroheadset to monitor their brainwaves in real time. The brainwaves were then transformed in visual art and projected on screens above the stage to the delight of the audience.

Digital Drugs or Binaural beats or Binaural Tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.
Mr. Agha Shahi, former foreign minister and don of Pakistani diplomacy, passed away here on6 September 2006. He was 86. He had suffered a heart attack in Karachi last week on his return from Geneva after a three-week visit. On 5th, he was brought to Islamabad and admitted to PIMS where he breathed his last on Wednesday morning.
Agha Shahi even after his retirement from the Foreign Service remained very active. He headed the International Council of World Affairs and till September last was the chairman of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad.
He remained foreign minister from 1977 to 1982 and was the foreign secretary from 1973 to 1977. He also served as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN and represented Pakistan in the UN Security Council from 1968 to 1969. For more than a decade, he led Pakistan delegations to UN General Assembly sessions, conferences of Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Conference.
Although popularly dubbed as a hardliner diplomat, Agha Shahi was in fact an ‘enlightened realist’. He understood difficulties Pakistan faced globally but remained committed to ascendancy of diplomacy as a tool for promoting Pakistan’s national interest. For example, in Afghanistan, he firmly took the position of “handshake with the Americans, not an embrace”. His position was not completely appreciated by military ruler Ziaul Haq and it became one of the reasons for his exit.
Shahi always remained in the frontlines to defend Pakistan’s interests at critical junctures in the country’s chequered history. In July 1972 when he was Pakistan’s ambassador to China, he convinced the Bhutto government that it could play the “China card” to settle the Prisoners of War issue and thwart India’s game plan to use the POWs card to make Pakistan settle Kashmir issue on its own terms, wrote columnist Nasim Zehra in her article “The Chinese Veto that Foiled India’s design on Kashmir”. It was Agha Shahi’s brainwave that foiled India’s plan to make Pakistan surrender Kashmir and the Kashmiri right to self-determination, she notes.
Till his last, Shahi followed developments in the international arena and was regularly consulted by the Foreign Office on key policy issues. He remained particularly concerned about Pakistan’s India policy.
