Thierry Guetta the 46 year old French American Los Angeles based filmmaker and street artist known as Mr. Brainwash has been profiled by Matilda Battersby for the Independent in an article titled ‘Mr Brainwash: Banksy's street-art protégé and his latest brainwave - The master of hype arrives in London for a blockbuster new show’. Battersby states “…when we met last month Mr Brainwash told me he still had no idea what to do with the 120,000ft space [the Old Sorting Office] and isn’t anywhere near finishing the work for it. He has the blind optimism of a child, and is convinced it will come together magically. …He propels himself through the conversation like a Duracell Bunny on steroids, wearing paint-spattered jeans and hoodie. His legs jiggle, his arms flap, he jumps up and down and uses his hands to draw in the air. He’s often been accused of being a fake. But after spending an hour in his company I’m astonished to find myself thinking he’s anything but: kooky, yes; scarily energetic, too; but endearing and bubbling over with vim. If this is an act then he deserves that Oscar. …he says: “I take everything seriously and I do everything with my heart. So when I got the chance of doing something I was like a mental patient who finally got to see a shrink. I vomited out everything I had inside.” ... His signature style pitches somewhere between Banksy’s black and white stencils and Andy Warhol’s colourful prints. He draws straight on walls or prints computerized images onto large sheets of paper and pastes them up in separate pieces. The Global Teacher Prize is awarded at the end of the Global Education and Skills Forum by the Varkey Foundation, to honor all the teachers of the world.
Dancers on stage were wearing EMOTIV's Insight neuroheadset to monitor their brainwaves in real time. The brainwaves were then transformed in visual art and projected on screens above the stage to the delight of the audience.

I have spent the day organizing my organizer. I have been having trouble with my dividers, but had a brainwave this morning of using two sets from other planners. I now have 12 sections. The dilemma of how to label the tabs was solved using my dymo labeler. Much neater.
Digital Drugs or Binaural beats or Binaural Tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.
Mr. Agha Shahi, former foreign minister and don of Pakistani diplomacy, passed away here on6 September 2006. He was 86. He had suffered a heart attack in Karachi last week on his return from Geneva after a three-week visit. On 5th, he was brought to Islamabad and admitted to PIMS where he breathed his last on Wednesday morning.
Agha Shahi even after his retirement from the Foreign Service remained very active. He headed the International Council of World Affairs and till September last was the chairman of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad.
He remained foreign minister from 1977 to 1982 and was the foreign secretary from 1973 to 1977. He also served as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN and represented Pakistan in the UN Security Council from 1968 to 1969. For more than a decade, he led Pakistan delegations to UN General Assembly sessions, conferences of Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Conference.
Although popularly dubbed as a hardliner diplomat, Agha Shahi was in fact an ‘enlightened realist’. He understood difficulties Pakistan faced globally but remained committed to ascendancy of diplomacy as a tool for promoting Pakistan’s national interest. For example, in Afghanistan, he firmly took the position of “handshake with the Americans, not an embrace”. His position was not completely appreciated by military ruler Ziaul Haq and it became one of the reasons for his exit.
Shahi always remained in the frontlines to defend Pakistan’s interests at critical junctures in the country’s chequered history. In July 1972 when he was Pakistan’s ambassador to China, he convinced the Bhutto government that it could play the “China card” to settle the Prisoners of War issue and thwart India’s game plan to use the POWs card to make Pakistan settle Kashmir issue on its own terms, wrote columnist Nasim Zehra in her article “The Chinese Veto that Foiled India’s design on Kashmir”. It was Agha Shahi’s brainwave that foiled India’s plan to make Pakistan surrender Kashmir and the Kashmiri right to self-determination, she notes.
Till his last, Shahi followed developments in the international arena and was regularly consulted by the Foreign Office on key policy issues. He remained particularly concerned about Pakistan’s India policy.

The Global Mind Project stems from an earlier art and cognitive neuroscience project ‘Art of Mind’, which I initiated in 2004 at the Brain Sciences Institute, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne.
During the initial investigative phase I underwent numerous hours of EEG (Electroencephalograph) testing to record my brainwave activity, while engaged in the process of meditation and creative conceptualization. The purpose of this research was to observe the cerebral electrical impulses associated with inspiration and creativity.
The testing procedure and data analysis, conducted over several weeks by Professor Rodney Croft, revealed the varying neurological responses to these predetermined mental tasks.

Inspire by a 'sprinkles' shot by butterflyfootsie, I had a brainwave.
We have just bought some nutella chocolate spread for pancake day (Yes, its hardly traditional, but we all like Nutella, so Nutella wins :D).
I had an idea of covering my lips in a gentle film of Nutella chocolate spread, and puckering up for the camera.
Unfortunately it didn't quite work. One because it was gloopy and just looked a lumpy gloopy mess on my mouth. Two because do you realise how much you salivate when youve got so much chocolatey goodness about an inch away from your tongue? lol
Anyway, in the end I tried my best to cover my lips in Nutella, and then had a further brainwave of dunking my lips in a bit of icing sugar....Lip cake, as it were :D
It kinda worked, and the selective desaturation has given it that classy edge......
Oh who am I kidding, I was having a laugh. There was nowt classy about it!

Jacques Lavoisier and Grammy Award musician and composer Dana Leong played performed a live Neuromix as part of the Annual Meeting of the Young Global Leaders and Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum in Geneva (Switzerland).
The audience in the Bâtiment des Forces motrices enjoyed Dana Leong playing cello live with Jacques Lavoisier on the keys.
Dana and Jacques were honored to have no other than Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, introduce them on stage.
Dana's brainwaves were monitored in real time thanks to EMOTIV EPOC's neuroheadset and transformed in visual art in real time.

We had a nice brainwave together.
Today I was stunned to discover THIS in our normally pretty unconspicuous bag of subscribed organic vegetables. I was convinced at first that it must be an alien, parasitic life form, feeding off the brainwaves of unsuspecting hipsters. However, the internet tells me it is called Romanesco, also known as Romanesque cauliflower - the edible flower bud of the species Brassica oleracea. It's very cool appearance is, of course, approximately fractal; the buds forming a logarithmic spiral and each bud is composed of a series of smaller buds, all arranged in yet another logarithmic spiral. Pretty neat.
I am not sure how it tastes yet. We will see in a couple of days.
As sound and music progressed, a brain sensor worn by the composer of this piece, Sara Corry, recorded brain activity and turned different frequencies into different colored, textured bars that grew or decreased in size.
Composer Corry wrote – various algorithms coupled with electroencephalography (EEG) technology were used to render audible partials and textures above seven base brainwave frequencies: Delta, Theta, Low Alpha, High Alpha, Low Beta, High Beta and Gamma. The piece operated on the concept of the missing fundamental. By generating the appropriate overtones above the brainwave frequency, the brain can perceive the pitch of the tone without the tone being present.
Sometimes on Flickr, you encounter fellow Flickrites who change your photographical life forever. Firs there was Rosie and Aaron. Then David stumbled over my stream which pretty much got me all excited about photography, because I was actually being recongised by strangers. Then, whilst looking at my contact's recent uploads, I found this from tdub303. I had never encountered Darius Twin before, but soon after figured he was a big deal in light painting circles; anyone who's anyone in LPg knows of Darius Twin, I concluded. I probably wasn't thinking very straight at 0100 01.04.09 when I decided, mid-brainwave, to paint this. Who knows if young Darius will stumble across it. Hopefully he will. If he commnts, it'll probably be a better day than when Rosie commented on this light painting. No offence to Rosie, we're mutually following one another on Twitter.

On a different note, I encountered a completely, un-ENT, patient today. We had some oncology kids on our ward because their ward was closed. They are amazing. Absolutely loved them. Fun loving, awesome, brilliant, wonderful. I can say a lot but two main words come to mind: persisitence and courage.
What Do I Use As a Light Source?

I attended a course of eight lessons in photography at the VAK in Delft. The assignment for the last lesson was to give a presentation about a photographer and to show some of his/her photos. AND to make a photo yourself, inspired by the work of this photographer, either a remake of an existing photo or a photo that could have been made by the photographer.
My presentation was about the Spanish photographer Chema Madoz. His work consists of black and white pictures of common objects, combined in an extraordinary way. Surrealistic, full of humour, technically perfect. See his website for many examples of his work: www.chemamadoz.com/ingles/home.htm.
The current picture shows a remake of the original 'Tenedor cuchara' (Spoon fork) of Chema Madoz, made in 2000.
It is SOOC, except for a slight crop and the B&W processing. It took me quite some time to figure out how Chema Madoz could have produced such a picture without using Photoshop tricks. Finally, I got a brainwave, with this picture as result.
My recipe: Take a piece of paper with on top the spoon and on the other side a fork. Then place a light below the paper at a large distance to obtain a sharp enough shadow of the fork, shining through the paper. Place the whole setup in enough ambient light to avoid shadows of the spoon and still have the shadow of the fork. Mission accomplished!
My five year old decided she didn't want cake for her birthday, she wanted donuts. Ok...so I made her a donut cake. (See the step by step directions for making a donut cake over at Brainwaves.)

Dutch Innovation Days had a dinner in the beautiful Grote Kerk (large church).
There were many geeky things, including volunteers who would play music through their brainwaves by kissing.

Bwah, how craziers is it to sitters and examer on a Saturdays, and even more craziers to sits two of them on a Saturdays! Anyways, as we couldn't watchers telemavision or be our normallers noisy selfs we thinkereds hard about what we could does to bringers Mireille some gooders luck today in her examers.
I hads the brainwaver to gives her some uglies luck to takes along with her, in the forms of a tattoo of my gooders buddy Trunko. A biggers thanks you must goes out to Daniela and my littlerests buddy Fabian who sendereds the tattoos to Mireille, I is sure they will be happiers to sees them puts to gooders use!
Thankfullies now that the examers is over we can now acts like a bunch of complete mentallers again, wooohooo!!!

QED, Black is White...well not really, because men got himself killed on the next zebra crossing..
This is how I imagined a quote from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A zebra crossing with a puddle of blood and a godly voice sarcastically saying "QED, Black is White, mwhuahahaha. You're wrong, and I'm back! "

Saw this outside the local bookshop, in Glanamman when I went to Ammanford on Friday, it had a sign £25 on it....as I'd gotton a lift with Mum who was going to the vet's I didn't think I had a chance to call in before the store closed on my way home...so I had a brainwave I went to the local newspaper office & got the number, spoke to one of the owner's who told me she was reducing it to £20 as it was the last one and they wanted it sold quick...and they wait behind until 6pm and to just push the door open on my way home...long story short we lost mum, who told me to ring her after leaving her mobile at home and then she went off with the car (and our chinchilla) to a store I said I wasn't going near so we had to walk miles to find her...anyhoo, Aaron tracked her down, and we got some groceries...and loaded up the car thinking "oh sh*t how's it gonna fit" ... did I mention we also had a cat, chinchilla and a dog with us...and Mum's car's a tiny little fiesta...but yeah so we left Ammanford at 6pm :( and it's a good 10 min drive if you're lucky ... which I was as the kindly old couple waited for me and helped Aaron get it in the boot!
Anyway it's 3.9 ft wide, 3 ft high and has a depth of just under 1 ft... it came with 2 staircases, and a load of pre-pressed pieces, some long strips of skirting & coving and a box containing the 2 chimney pots, magnets, screws, clips etc...
Now all we need is the time to do it...seeing as we are awaiting the arrival of our other dolls house kit (gonna be spooky guys!) to arrive from China!!
Arriving at the central car park on the University of York campus with an open day shuttle service, YWH 693 is a rare Volvo B10M-SE VanHool T9 Alizée - formerly Y949 YAV, the engine on an SE is set further back than on a standard B10M and this can be told by the position of the side engine vents on the nearside.
I had been trying to work out the original ID of this coach for a while, but had a brainwave whilst looking through my photos from today and comparing with an older photo or two.
