This is one of my early attempts. Dutch braids are harder for me to do when my hair is really thick. I think it will come out better after I straighten my hair and then braid it.
This is a braid my friend helped me with. It goes several laps around my head forming a hairdo that reminds me of a woven basket. Unfortunately this was the best picture of it before I had to take it out...
Look at that pose! A braid with a little curl on top. It looks like there's a fingerprint under her arm.
From glacial melt to the open sea, Iceland's rivers stitch together an otherworldly landscape. The aerial perspective reveals patterns unseen from the ground: serpentine streaks of turquoise, ashen deltas unraveling into silence, golden sediment swirling beneath cold blue streams.
This might very well be my most popular picture. I have thousands of people who look at this picture and wonder to themselves how did I Kristen Lock make this design. Well if you purchase my tree braids 101 DVD then you too can create this same style as easily as I did. I used 24 inch perm straight purchased by the client from her local beauty supply store.

Our braided kitchen rugs were made by an elderly woman in Pennsylvania. We found her when we visited a craft fair and fell in love with these colorful rugs. They are both close to a decade old and we wash them often but they are still going strong.
I got my hairdresser to put a pretty little braid in my hair ;-) It just adds the final touch to the style I think
201*365
I need extra catch up photos so let me tell you braids really hurt! I was scratching and itching all day for just these three haha Anyhow I enjoyed the eperience and thought the focus and angle of this shot shows the real texture and look of my hair close up! So this is what you would see looking at me closely! ;) Although I'm still craving that macro lens......hmmmmm one day!
I took the big 70-200mm lens with me to Bali and couldn't resist the opportunity to take many many photos from our 6 day getaway with friends. We just needed to relax from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. I really needed a bit of a break and now struggling with choosing photos for this project as most are too personal or not staged enough for 365. Nevertherless I love so many I really just have the urge to put all my travel photos up on flickr but for now they will stay on FB hehehehe
and button earrings that i made!
[braids inspired by the film "ever after" and a hairstyle i saw in an email advertisement from anthropologie. xo.]
Still taking me some time to learn the fishtail braid the french way so here is another plain one...
I've been meaning to get Rune a proper wig but funds have been tight. Luckily, I found some elastics lying around and braided the old, frizzy wig I had. I think it suits her so much! ♥
These images are more than geographical documentation—they're visual meditations on scale, symmetry, and impermanence. Each composition evokes a painter's brushstroke or a vascular map, blurring the boundary between nature and abstraction.
Thin cornrows hair style, which are tiny braids that are made all over the head and decorated with beads, a very popular style among kids in southeast asia beaches. Although this style can be time-consuming, it is meant to last. A very intricate braiding styles use seven or nine strands. Ha! I couldn’t resist and I made this spyshot.
Nice closeup of the amazing braid my husband did on me. Now I just wish he could learn to french braid...
I just can't keep it tight while doing a dutch braid. Some women find doing this braid easy and have a hard time mastering the french braid. I guess I'm just the opposite.
Walking tours gaze upon selectively bred Gypsy Vanner horses that roam among colorfully painted vardo wagons on a farm dedicated to sharing the breed's personality and rich history.
The Gypsy Gold Farm
In the wide pastures of The Gypsy Gold Farm, sunlight dances playfully upon the long, flowing manes of Gypsy Vanner mares and stallions. The rare horses, which were first bred in the gypsy camps of Great Britain nearly 70 years ago, made their North American debut at The Gypsy Gold Farm after a chance discovery by owner Dennis Thompson and his late wife Cindy.
The couple had been driving through the countryside of England when the oddly compelling sight of a far-off stallion prompted them to pull over. Soon after, the two tracked down the owner and found themselves immersed in a culture rich with vibrant caravans and music.
The selectively bred horses currently roam the Ocala farm where Dennis educates visitors on their smart, affectionate nature and origin. Colorful painted vardo wagons—the type the horses were designed to pair with—also help enliven the landscape.
2006.11.18 Today I styled in a rolled braid. This is pretty easy to do, as long as you can keep the first side rolled whilst rolling the other! I have to hold the first side in my teeth for that, but it comes out nicely anyway. (you could clip it to the side of your head for a moment, but my hair's too heavy .. or I don't know how to clip!)
...and my big fat red lip ;)
