These custom brackets will accept 1¾ inch steel tubing so I can mount things in front of the bumper.

Each of the Suburban's tow hooks are bolted to the frame in a way that seems almost like it was designed to be used for aftermarket brackets like these. The brackets are 2 inch steel tubing welded to steel plates that are secured between the tow hooks and the frame. Each bracket features cross holes with a nut welded on one side of the tube so telescoping support members can be bolted securely to the brackets.

The bracket tubing walls are 0.090 inches thick. I would have preferred 0.120 inches, but the thicker walls would not allow easy telescoping of 1¾ inch steel tubing. I'm not sure I trust the thin walled tubing for a single bracket, but these brackets will always be used in tandem, which I think will make them more reliable.

DIY bracket with 2 Lastolite Ezy-box adapters and Chinese umbrella bracket. The Lastolite brackets come with brass M5 bushes, these were drilled & tapped to ¼" 20tpi UNF for compatibility with other lighting attachments. The secondary bar underneath stops the Lastolite bits from swivelling.

Successfully milled a mounting bracket out of (old) 1/8" plexiglass. Used a 1/8" single flute bit in a small rotary tool (think Dremel). Milled at 45ipm and 0.02" per pass. 9.3 minutes and a whole bunch of static clingy plastic shavings later, it was done!

Bracket can be re-used from the factory suspension which is bolted to the strut housing. The accelerometer can be fitted like OEM to the damper.

This may or may not be a bracket fungus, but I think it is.

Bracket Fungus seen on a rotting log at Broomhead reservoir.

For old fogies like me, it was about 2" wide; for the rest of you anout 50mm.

Anyone got an ID on this one please?

The log stacks at Abberton Reservoir are playing host to some fine fungi, like this Trametes sp. bracket!

This variation of the bearing bracket widens the inner radius surrounding the bearing by 0.5mm. I also raised a 1mm ring around the top surface to strengthen the larger, upper tear-drop shaped bolt holes.
