A disused lamp bracket, made from a length of old rail and now used for growing ivy. Reedham station, Norfolk, 8th April 2016.
Lunchtime wander in the woods - and found some fungi. The sun even shone briefly.
These brackets were smooth white underneath, and a neighbouring fallen branch had masses of them.

This high quality bottom bracket was paired with the model # 54 steel cottered crank set.
From the remains of the bottom bracket I think this was a modern sealed job made by a company called Token. See www.tokenproducts.com/files/products/desc/p-48671fe91b47b....
The trick to removing the thing was:
1. Unscrew old teclamite nipple from bottom bracket shell. Punch through this hole with a screwdriver to break up the fibre inner liner.
2. Take a punch and knock back into the shell the remains of what I think were rings forming part of the bearing assembly.
3. Once bearing rings knocked back far enough take a hacksaw blade and very, very carefully cut down through the softer outer ring of metal forming the cups.
4. Once I cut away a small section then I could squeeze the remains of the cup inward disengaging the cup from the threads and remove them from the frame.

The brainchild of Assos founder, Toni Maier Moussa, this cup-and-cone type bottom bracket came with Assos crank sets. Designed to allow for side-to-side chain-line adjustment, the cups, lock rings and dust shield are all made of lightweight alloy. Even the crank bolts were through-drilled to save weight.
Hasselblad interpretation of this shot. Kind of happy about this one, I remember the shutter speed was quite slow and I was worried about camera shake. No shake reduction in Hassies :-D

Not something I thought I would see at South Ottawa. Ohio Central 4028, leased to I&O from G&W, has a good hand on a 53 car Sunday extra from NorthStar in Delta, headed for Ford Park Yard in Lima.
Here's the bracket out of the carIt's laying on a piece of 8.5x11 paper. I replaced this with two 10mm x 1.5 cm bolts with locknuts.
Have not posted up anything lately. I have been real busy with my senior year and have done a few shoots that I cant post up quite yet.
For now I will post up one of my latest DIY's. I have been really wanting some more power for shooting in the daytime so I made this dual flash bracket. It gives me 1 extra stop of light for each. Each bracket has a single Cactus V2s triggering a single light while the second light is triggered optically.
The power increase is fantastic with these! I have been thinking about going with Alien Bee's but really did not want to deal with all the wires and long setup times. These will hold me over for a while :-)
I have finally gotten the studio reorganized. New standards and brackets to hold most everything, including the desk area. I had hoped that would be all I would need, but I highly underestimated the amount of stuff I have. The bookcase on the left is part of the original kitchen cabinets I will paint ultra white. The back wall is already painted, but the three remaining walls will be ultra white as well once I buy more paint. I really like that it gets everything up onto one wall. the rest of the space is now sparse. I can spread projects out on the ground or have the girls in here while I work without us feeling squished. We hope to eventually find a vintage love seat that would be used in here instead of the other chairs.

Apparently a CL77 battery was installed on the bike, which isn't a very big deal, just slightly taller than usual. Which means that the original (much thicker) piece of rubber insulation that's here keeps the bracket from clamping down and holding the battery in place. I took an old piece of tire tube, cut it to spec and glued it on with RTV sealant.
Problem solved.
