Four Dutch boys portrayed by the New Zealand photographer George Crombie (prob.) in Volendam in 1910. My restoration and digital hand colorization of the original image in the Museum of New Zealand archive.
Here are a couple of excerpts from an article written by Gareth Watkins (Museum of New Zealand):
"He was born in Scotland in 1882, immigrated as a small child with his family to New Zealand, and spent much of his youth in Roslyn, Dunedin. He worked in his father’s tailor shop as a cutter, and in his spare time became an enthusiastic member of the Dunedin Photographic Society." --
"In early 1910 George took his camera on an overseas trip, traveling to Sydney to board the S.S. Orvieto liner bound for Europe via the Suez Canal. George visited Egypt, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and England. Around 150 of his stereoscopic images from this trip were published by the New Zealand Graphic." --
"It is only a couple of years later that George would again find himself on European soil.
The Otago Daily Times noted that George originally enlisted in the Medical Corps but later transferred to the infantry. He left New Zealand in late 1916 and was killed in action on 13 June 1917 at Messines, Belgium."
Newly 9 years old. It's scary how big he's getting. Isaac means laughing one and he certainly is, and does.
Young Charlie Boy down the end of my rear yard..
Charlie is very much an outdoor cat and he adores his territory.

A B&P coal train departs CP Boyer in Mt Jewett, Pennsylvania behind three SD60Is passing one of a handful of B&O CPLs still active on the former B&O (BR&P) mainline to Buffalo. The crew will take the coal train up to Salamanca and then take an X-RISI up to Buffalo with the coal train following up the next day.

5999 views, good boy Sonny!
Stay here Sonny, I'll be back,
just posting all our new photos
from the neighborhood over here,
at Leylabunny's
see big,
don't mind grumpy down below,
oh he's gone now,
to allow a place to put a
"Picture for the Day" there.
he hadn't read the kind words of Eric, in the comments, yet
but then again nobody has...
About ten years ago, our son was in the Boy Scouts. We went on many hikes. Sometimes I'd go as a parent volunteer and other times simply as a participant, but we always were rewarded with a badge when we completed the hike. I can't part with them and so they stay in the "junk" drawer.
What if I?...
Had a thing on the side?
Made ya cry?
Would the rules change up?...
Or would they still apply?...
If I played you like a toy?...
Sometimes I wish I could act like a boy

This may be the oldest Polaroid in Roid Week. Hope that's OK. It is the oldest Roid I have, shot by
my dad about 50 years ago. He had just landed a job at Polaroid in Cambridge. He shot this with the first in a series of new cameras and films (early roll Polacolor here, I think) that he would bring home to test. I had a new puppy.
Model is Jean, freezing on my balcony for me.
Am I ever not in the middle of an artistic crisis? I'm not really making what I want to be making at the moment, and probably need a break from the internet again. I'm very much into the idea of becoming a recluse this year.

sweet little thing is crawling
started about two weeks ago and he just keeps getting faster and better
I couldn't go north without one last look for elusive High Brown Fritillaries. It was windy wet , and cool, so my hopes weren't high, but luckily I spotted a couple of obliging individuals, which were wonderfully fresh. I'll miss the best two weeks, so I was really grateful to get this shot.Golden Boy is by Caitlin Rose.
