A most fun project- the top of a tiny little box with recycled stuff from the Mad Hatter's Bench.....
The Box is Plymouth's new multi-million-pound cultural and heritage attraction
Experience stunning gallery displays, high-profile artists and wonderful art exhibitions, not to mention an unforgettable programme of exciting events and performances, and thousands of fascinating artefacts and archives.
One of the opening exhibitions is Mayflower 400: Legend and Legacy and is one of the highlights of the Mayflower year.
Work on The Box began in March 2017. When finished, it will maintain the wonderful architecture of the Grade II Listed former Museum and Art Gallery and Central Library buildings, while also expanding its facilities through a stylish and contemporary extension - which includes a brand new main entrance on Tavistock Place.
The £42m redevelopment plan has also included repairing, refurbishing and transforming St Luke’s Church into the largest single GIS-compliant gallery in the South West. It will even feature a beautiful stained-glass window, created by world-famous artist Leonor Antunes. The buildings will be linked by an outdoor public space that houses food, drink and retail outlets.
The Box redevelopment scheme has been led by Plymouth City Council, in partnership with the University of Plymouth and the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
It has also been supported by the City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, the Coastal Communities Fund, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the University of Plymouth, the Wolfson Foundation, the British Film Institute and Interreg.
Finely crafted silver boxes called bonbonnieres, after the French word, were given as mementos to invited guests of Imperial banquets and state ceremonies from the late 1800s. Today, the custom of giving presentation boxes is not limited to the Imperial family, but has been adopted by corporations and ordinary people to commemorate the founding of a company or a wedding, or an auspicious event.
This box in the shape of a joined oak leaf box with an Imperial crest was given on the second day of the commemoration of Emperor Taisho's enthronement ceremony on November 17th 1915. On this day 2800 people attended and 4 different craftsmen's studios were employed for the bonbonnieres and 4 different designs were made.
Signed Hattori and marked with the jungin (pure silver) seal.

"Det finns ingenting som gör så blankt och rent som Svinto tvålull. Så skinande rent. Snabbt, lätt och effektivt. Och ändå så skonsamt. Svinto tvålull finns förutom som kuddar också i ekononmipack om 100 eller 200 g.
För bästa resultat. Låt Svinto löddra ordentligt. "

"Nothing can clean up shiny and spotless as Svinto soap wool. So shining bright. Quick, easy and efficient. And yet so gentle. Apart from cushions, Svinto i also available as 100g and 200g economy boxes.
For the best result. Let Svinto lather plenty. "

From a series of boxes constructed between 1987 and 2007. Most now lost in transit, given away as gifts, these only exist as the photographic documents.
Inspired by the love of Joseph Cornell, gaming machines and pop art.
Cardboard Boxes are the best and most extensive choice for you. Moreover, it can increase sales as well. bitly.ws/vPYk
Four of a range of commercial vehicles distributed in the UK by S.B. Toys of Manchester. Not the sort of thing I would normally buy but the use of English is amusing – have a look at the text on the rear of the box. Although marked '1:64' these are actually about 1:87; the transporter is a crude copy of an item made by Boley for HO railways. Looking at the pictures on the box it is possible there are different scales of models sold in the same packaging – on one end flap is a Transit-sized van.
Way off theme for this week and probably a sign of desperation... Taken late tonight so focus and DOF are really not good at all. At least there is something here that I can learn from considering the conditions the photo was shot in.
It will have to do for today. Better to have a photo for the day than miss it entirely in my opinion.
Too long of a day today dealing with issues with the house (fix-it issues that is). This wasn't the issue of the day. This stemmed from this past weekend when the pool pump motor decided that it had lived its last day. In the process of replacement (which has yet to be completed) and wiring, the outdour electric box recepticle lid broke along with a screw breaking off that held the cover on. Needless to say, the entire box and contents were replaced.
Maybe I should have taken a picture when I was disassembling everything because that old stuff may have met the 80's theme this week.... :)

They say it is recession, which is a slowdown or a massive contraction in economic activities.
Political scaremongering about the fall-out of Brexit.
A significant fall in spending generally leads to a recession.
It is global, but especially in England, so many have to go with less.
Beware; small presents can often contain much more than the bigger ones?
Also, if it is given with much love and care..., just add some of your gold-dust, the meaning will be there!
I wish you all the best and thank you, M, (*_*)

25¢ from a yard sale. Might save these until Christmas.
I liked how they stack and also nest. Each one has a working key. We have the ABC and the 123, but not the other shapes.
On a rail transport system, signalling control is the process by which control is exercised over train movements by way of railway signals and block systems to ensure that trains operate safely, over the correct route and to the proper timetable. Signalling control was originally exercised via a decentralised network of control points that were known by a variety of names including signal box

I cannot help myself. Here’s a story about records, books, postage, recycling and reuse.
This box started out life containing 16 copies of Patrick O’Farrell’s paperback book with ISBN 0-86840-635-X, sent from the University of New South Wales Press (printed on the box). It must have been sent to Readings bookshop in Carlton, who reused it to send something to Dr Phillip Law (1912-2010) at his home in Canterbury (address label on the bottom of the box, unfortunately Post Paid Australia with no postmark). Dr Law used it to store excess publications about Antarctica (inscribed on the box in his own hand). On the death of Dr Law in 2010, the box ended up with us, the eScholarship Research Centre, who have been working with Dr Law on his papers since the mid 1980s. We have the final material from Dr Law now processed and boxed in special National Library of Australia boxes, ready for transfer to their custody.
Looking up the book in the National Library of Australia’s Trove catalogue and checking the ISBNs of the different editions reveals that this box originally held the third edition of The Irish in Australia, published in 2000.
I needed a box to send 18 copies of a book we have just published (November 2011), Founders, Firsts and Feminists: Women Leaders in Twentieth-century Australia, to a conference being held in Canberra next week. This box did the job nicely!
I turn these on an antique lathe I have. The boxes are apple and Bradford pear and the bowls are red oak and Bradford pear. All of the wood is from family and neighborhood trees.
A view of the ring inside the box when Chris first brought it home. This gives a great view of the setting.
ODC2. Box.
Ok, so today I thought I'd think INSIDE the box ;-) be a little different there.
First let me say I started off a different idea, Origami. The most stupidly difficult task ever. I unsucessfully made a mess of a box which I was going to be all creative with, but that failed.
So this was my backup plan.
I emptied this giant box in my parents room, and climbed in, but this was the best I could come up with I'm afraid as I lost the will to live after my Origami.
I shall attempt it again though so wish me luck! >.<
Happy Sunday everyone.

My son-in-law brought me these three stacking boxes from Africa, he watched the gal make them, they are all beaded on thin wire.
