This is my niece's 3 "BOYS"!

I taught a recent workshop on making bottlecap pendants, and I took a few photos of the pendants that everyone made. They turned out great, and it was hard for me to not want to keep them all for myself! I taught a recent workshop on making pendants out of recycled bottle caps. I took a few photos of what everyone made, and I thought they all turned out great. It was hard for me to give them back and not keep them for myself!

Yes, it's Christmas up on the ridge. Cecil found a temporary use for my carport roof. The local anthro- and zoomorphs are celebrating the holiday with a little Christmas play

Strobist Sundays - theme: minimalism

I couldn't decide if I like heads or tails better, so I put 'em together in a diptych.

Lighting setup was one bare 580EXII behind and to the right, about 3-4 feet from the bottlecap, and raised up about 1 foot higher than table level. I had a small (1"x4") bounce card between tripod and bottlecap. I used a hex wrench held erect with two tiny globs sticky bee's wax to cast the shadow. It was about 3" from the bottlecap. I hand held my "tracing paper in a foamcore frame" diffuser between the 580 and the bottlecap. I found the closer I was to the bottlecap, the more diffuse the light and the less (a LOT less) the hex wrench shadow showed. When I held diffuser very close to the to the 580, the hex wrench shadow was much more distinct. That was a great way to control the softness of the shadow. Orange is an old vinyl notebook cover.

I started this collection in college. Which is funny, since I mostly drank Busch Light out of a keg back then...

I noticed her playing with a bottlecap, so I decided to record a bit. It's funny how the free stuff keeps the cats entertained the longest.

Michael made these with a dremel, some candy paint, and a lot of patience.

my sister gave me this bracelet made out of vintage bottle caps for christmas 2 years ago. it was quite a joke, because she had given me a bracelet for my birthday which didn't like and i told her it was pretty but i never wear bracelets. so she ordered a bottle cap necklace for me for christmas, but they sent a bracelet instead. so she was all afraid i'd think she never paid attention to a thing i said! but she wanted to have something for me under the tree, so she wasn't going to return it until after christmas. but i loved the bracelet so much, i told her i'd change my style and start wearing bracelets just so i could wear this one. and it still annoys me, with my skinny skinny wrists, but i wear it.

or i used to. until the clasp broke. so i put it in my pile with my mending to be fixed. one day i got out my pliers to fix it, and i couldn't find it. so i figured it was lost forever. but then when my closet fell down and i had to clean it all out to reconstruct it, the bracelet was in the rubbble. so i added it to the pile of unfinished projects. then i got out the florist wire and fixed it. and now i'm finally wearing it again- yipee!
